Point 5half length pied d'elephant goose down sleeping bag
Lightweight goose down half length sleeping bag for demanding adventures where every gram is counted
Point 5 half length pied d'elephant goose down sleeping bag
Reduce weight and bulk in your sack. This Pied d'Elephant style sleeping bag is only insulated from the waist down. The upper section is simply not there as it is designed to be used in conjuction with your down jacket.
It’s the bee’s knees! The cat’s whiskers! The elephant’s…… foot? We originally designed Point 5 with lightweight alpinists in mind; striving to shave a few grams when they’re pushing their limits.
If you’ve got a big jacket for sitting in, you don’t necessarily need a big bag for sleeping in. Point 5 is a half bag and if it's half a bag then it's half the weight. The rationale being if it is half the weight we can all climb, bike and hike that little bit better.
Point 5 has a 200 g fill weight (equivalent to 400 g fill on a standard length).
This super packable bundle of warmth isn’t just for hardcore mountain athletes! It’s ideal for anyone in need of a little extra warmth on their legs: fishing enthusiasts sitting riverside on a chilly day; athletes trying to keep warm for their next performance and anyone who feels the cold more on their legs can all find a use for this versatile little bag. It’s also a perfect first sleeping bag for mini-adventurers looking to spend their first nights outdoors.

Temperature rating: This is a half bag and we are unable to supply a temperature rating in the same way we can with our other sleeping bags. Its construction method is most like our PD400 which is rated at Comfort +2ºC (T comf), Limit -4ºC (T lim), however you must remember this is half the length and the footbox uses a drawcord closure so you can’t really compare directly.

ALPKIT POINT 5
Excellent quality and surprisingly warm. Compresses very small. The foot end when cinched up tight is actually warmer than normal down bags of equivalent fill as it encases the feet very well. Have used it successfully over the top of an ALPKIT Cloudcover in conjunction with a down jacket to have toasty legs. Having a choice of horizontal or linear baffles on top is a great idea as you can offset with the Cloudcover baffles eliminating any cold spots. The only downside is that when the foot end is closed up it is very short. I am 5' 7'' and it only came to hip level. ALPKIT need to add an extra baffle for an additional 6' of length. Interestingly if you leave the foot end open it can be used as a kind of very effective torso sleeve from the armpits to the knees. Interesting product and if a little longer with maybe an integral zip to join to an ALPKIT down jacket they could be onto a real winner for lightweight enthusiasts.
Away 5 oh
Went away for a few nights bivi using this in a hooped bivi, up by Stanage, I combined it with My Filo jacket and was toasty warm at about 8-12 centigrade. With the foot end closed the bag is only just long enough to come up to my waist/jacket and I am only 5"8 with a 29inch inside leg, so not one for tall people. The minamalist approach means there is no zip, so temperature regulation is achieved by opening or closing the draw cords at the foot or waist... Have you ever tried reaching your feet inside a bivi bag.... Not so easy is it?!? Very light weight with good firm loft, but packs small. A quality item let down a little by using string for the closures that would be better off being shock-cord.
