Whether you’re traversing rolling hills of the Peak District, exploring the Lake District mountains, or bouncing from bothy to bothy in the Scottish Highlands… the adventurous and ever-dependable Koala is a popular and trustworthy companion.

Koala attaches beneath your saddle to provide you with secure and light storage with an impressive capacity.

Koala is at its most stable when attached to the Exo-rail, which reduces sway, increases stability, and makes it compatible with dropper seat post. Attachment is quick, simple and secure with a slide-on, slide-off sleeve and stabilising saddle rail strap. If you don’t have an Exo-rail, you can partner up the saddle rail strap with velcro straps and the handy webbing ladder to attach it without. If you'd prefer to use the Exo-Rail, pop over to our Exo-Rail and Koala 7 bundle to get the two together (and make a bit of a saving).

Koala has a pared back design to make it incredibly spacious for its size and weight. This makes it spot on for packing your bulky, light, and compressible kit when off bikepacking (think sleeping bags and clothing). Koala is also available in 13 L if you need more space.

Roll-top closure and compression straps keep your cargo compact and portable and ensure stability when the bag is less full.

When cycling in a downpour, we recommend using a drybag with your Koala for added protection.

"Is it waterproof?"

Although highly weather resistant, this product is not fully waterproof due to its stitched construction. If you are carrying valuables or electronic equipment, make sure to put it in a dry bag.

koala 7

I purchased the Koala 7 dropper seat post compatible recently and took it out on its first Scottish outing. I got the Tarmac UL one because, well I live in the highlands and it can get very wet! I am absolutely delighted with this product. it didn't leave a mark on my dropper, I could still use it with no interference at all even with my mudhugger on. We had endured rain all day, heavy at times and even hail stones. my clothes inside were still dry! 7l for me was an ideal size, I had placed dried food, thermals and a light weight jacked inside, with plenty of space, which was great, as it wasn't swinging side to side. (like some under the saddle bags can do) I am really happy with this product!

Use caution with full suspension

With my normal riding configuration, the distance between my seat rail and my rear wheel exceeds the required 15 cm. However, I found that while riding full suspension (with the suspension open), any little bump caused the tire to hit the pack. That made for slightly scary, but mostly not as fun riding when we were able to move off of gravel roads to single track. I was using the exo rail and cinching the straps as tight as possible, but could not rectify the problem. I ended up having to rig the Koala to my handlebars instead, for any single track days. Luckily I did not have a pack on the front.

I do appreciate the pack, but am disappointed that it doesn't work well with a full suspension bike for someone with relatively short legs (and therefore not a TON of distance between the seat and rear wheel). I suggest adding a disclaimer somewhere to the product page.
