Wear more, wash less: it’s every busy adventurer’s dream…
We apply Polygiene™ to garments so that they smell less with wear and need washing less between use: ideal for that multi day getaway (and you’re doing your bit for the environment too).
Polygiene ™ is a silver based treatment that we apply during fabric production. The silver chloride prevents the growth of the bacteria that makes your clothes pong without interfering with the skin’s natural bacteria flora, so it’s comfortable and safe next to your skin. Polygiene ™ is bluesign ® approved (meeting the highest environmental standards) and lasts as long as your clothes do, so you’ll never need to reproof them.
The catch? There isn’t one! You can wear this garment day in, day out, and day back in again without causing a stink – winner!

Great winter layer
Having been very happy with the short sleeved versions I bought this in large. Twinned with a merino baselayer I’d happily wear this down to 0°C. Not sure if the current version is a revision but I found the top plenty long enough contrary to other reviews and I’m 6’2”.
After using ex-military ‘technical’ T-shirts I tried the short sleeve one and liked it. Bought the long sleeve version for the Winter Traverse on Dartmoor and loved it. Warm and light, but did the job perfectly. My new go to top!
Just finished the way of the roses 170 mile route from Morecambe to Bridlindton wore this top everyday for 3 days and could you could hardly tell it had been worn from the smell and it was 20 degrees plus ,the size xl was a brilliant fit and the zip was just right for keeping you cool around the neck and chest area, arm length was also good and even rolled up it did not feel tight or uncomfortable well done done again Alpkit team.
Just had to pick up a few of the koulin baselayers in the spacemaker sale (men's & women's short and long sleeved versions.) The fit for both myself and my wife on both versions is great. Quality is up there with Montane/Rab and superior to berghuas based on my experience, and with polygeine treatment this is hard to beat in terms of cost. Looking forward to really putting them through their paces on the Hadrian's Wall path next month. Oh, and speedy delivery as usual. Thanks Alpkit!
Breathable and lightweight
Found the garment fits well and saw me through a recent 3 day Sandstone Way mtb trip. My issues are around stitching quality. A number if loose threads were apparent on delivery and some of the seam stitching just isn't straight. I expected better quality control.
I don't like leaving a bad review for Alpkit, as generally I think they do very good gear and very good prices. In fact, they are my default "go-to" when I need new kit. However, this baselayer really lets them down.
First thoughts when I pulled it on were that it felt comfortable, but short. I then lifted my arms above my head and it rode up leaving my entire belly exposed. Not so good for scrambling. I can't comment on its performance when used as I returned it. I should add that I don't have an odd body shape and the dimensions in every other respect apart from length were fine. So this wasn't an issue of choosing the wrong size.
Alpkit, please make this about four inches longer and I would definitely re-buy. But (as much as I don't like saying it), as it is, it just doesn't work.
Good but Small
This is a comfortable, well made base layer but I found the xxl to be very short in the body so I often end up showing off my lower back when I'm wearing it.
