I say “pans” but in fact I haven’t used the smaller one at all and don’t bother taking it out with me anymore as I have an even smaller pan for trips where we’ll just be brewing up.
The larger pan here has been used on gas, edge of a bbq for a brew, and open fires for cooking up a variety of stuff. I’ve burnt the inside and blackened the outside, then scrubbed it in the sea with sand and it comes up, well not quite like new but, like a pot you’d think had been well cared for. It’s even been called into duty as a sandcastle bucket.
The lid is a bit clunky as a lid but works great as a frying pan, cereal bowl and chopping board.
An excellent quality product at even better price
This pot set is simply awesome. Well constructed, light weight, and easily storable in backpack or framebag. I take just the larger pot and lid/frying pan on trips. It has generous volume and allows me to make anything I like from huge pasta dishes to vegetable soups. I’m also able to store my stove, gas, cleaning cloth and utensils in the pan. This makes for a very effective camping kitchen system. Super impressed by Alpkit quality and will be purchasing more gear shortly.
Durable, well sized and cheap!
I bought these recently from the Hathersage store in preparation for a trip to Font... superb pans!
We cooked out of these pans for a week and generally stuck to one pots meals using pasta or rice. The big pan was the perfect size for 3 more than healthy one pot portions, while the small would probably do two. The frying pans are ideal for prepping food, as well as the obvious use of frying and lids.
We managed to get the rice to stick a couple of pans but even after a thorough scrubbing the pots look like brand new.
Well done Alpkit on another well priced, well made product!
Great lightweight pot set. I take the smaller one on its own if its just me or take the two if its me and others. Great with a couple of stoves to boil up some spag bol and pasta. Ightweight, great stuff bag and fits a single stove and gas canister inside with room for coffee, a lighter and a few other bits. Love them.
Light and sturdy
These pots are well made and come in a nice mesh stash bag. They have pretty good non-stick, are easy to clean and are great value. Just remember to pull the handles out before turning the stove on, the rubber on the handles is not heatproof.
Pros - good quality anodised aluminium, good quality mesh bag. Easy to clean.
Cons - can't call it non-stick as there is no coating or anything that might prevent it from sticking. Wish there was any teflon coating on pans (pots are good as they are). Works OK with couscous, rice, sausages, chorizo etc, but no good for eggs :(
One more thing to add that there is only one mesh bag, which is good for a big size pot/pan, but it will not shrink enough for small set. So there is no use out of it if you want to take a small set only.
Not as specified.
Good quality pots and very practical, lids serve perfectly as plates or frying pan. One big minus-the smaller pot is 1l, but the bigger pot is only 1.4l and not 2l. Shame.
