0Hiro [Mens] synthetic jacket
0Hiro is a warming insulated synthetic jacket making it a great choice for slinging on in early starts as you crawl out of the tent, late finishes coming down off the hill, after a swim in the ocean, waiting for a midnight change over during a 24hr mountain bike race, or sitting it out on a high ridge.
An ideal warming layer when crawling out of the tent on a fresh early start. Throw 0Hiro on while you are sat waiting for your partner to follow you up a pitch or batten down the hatches whilst you sit out a storm and wait for the sun to rise.
0Hiro (pronounced zero-hero) is particularly durable making it a great choice for slinging on after a swim in the ocean, waiting for a midnight change over during a 24hr mountain bike race, or sitting it out on a belay ledge. The large adjustable hood is non-detachable allowing it to trap heat better, it also fits over a climbing helmet making it ideal for climbing. There are wrist warmers with thumb loops integrated into the sleeve of 0Hiro; this further traps heat in without restricting dexterity and the versatility to wear gloves over the top.
The enormous pockets are suited for thicker gloves, phones and cameras or stashes of energy food. 0Hiro can be thrown on top of wet clothing and will warm you up- you might still be uncomfortably wet but at least you will be a bit warmer!

Why synthetic? There are many advantages to down clothing, but when down jackets are exposed to the elements- something which can be difficult to avoid in our temperamental climes- they have a tendency to lose their benefits.Synthetic jackets far excel in their ability to perform when wet. 0Hiro can retain heat when wet and will dry much faster than its down equivalent. 0Hiro (medium) fits in a XS Vortex bag.

very happy with the jacket, perfect fit (true to the sizing chart). stitching is good & a lot of thought is put into this garment. delivery was also the fastest i've ever seen from the UK ( i live in Belgium) Good job alpkit!
A great performing jacket at an excelent price
I purchased a 0hiro (zero hiro) when t first came out as a warm winter jacket for hiking and for when attending outdoor events such as X-country running. I have found that it was warm, cosy and very windproof throughout all this time. It is not very breathable so I wouldn't run while wearing it but is fine for walking/hiking or standing around in exposed areas. I founs it particularly use during the cross country running season as it was able to keep me warm waiting to/and after my run when my only other clothing was my shorts and vest. It us easy to keep clean and the large deep pockets can store plenty, with 3 additional pockets inside, a smaller zipped pocket in the left breast , which is perfect for a wallet or phone, and two mesh stash pockets at the bottom on each side. I has a nicely shaped hood which can be adjusted for size. It has been a fantastic jacket and would still be considered as such at twice the price.
After chatting with 'Hero' Dave on the Alpkit website chat, I decided to order the 0Hiro in Stealth Green which arrived today. I'm delighted with the jacket, very well made and lots of technical features for a very good price (£80 on offer). Sizing is spot on...I'm 41-42" chest and the 43" Large has just a little bit of room without being baggy. Personally I'd prefer 2" gaps between sizes to get something a little slimmer fit, but as a 'throw on' / 'early morning on the campsite' jacket, it'll be fine. The stealth green colour is perfect for my role as a cadet force volunteer and it would be great to see more Alpkit gear in this colour as Alpkit has a bit of a fan base within the Cadet Forces for well made affordable kit that gets young people outdoors. The large inside/outside pockets are perfect for maps, phones and keys etc, including the key loop on the inside pocket. I've not used it outdoors yet but it seems very warm yet very light and quite packable (but not quite 'pack into its own pocket' size, like the Heiko). Nice job
I need 0hiro
Bonnie Tyler could hold out til the morning light with ease in this jacket. Well constructed, great fit. I'm 5'8 slim build and the small is a snug (but not tight fit) - similar to that of my Montane Flux jacket. Only gave it a four as I haven't it belaying yet.
Nice and warm but doesn't breathe
Bought this when it first came out, great and warm when you are standing around but like being in a bin liner if you exert yourself as it doesn't appear to breathe at all.
