Save the date: 25th-27th September 2020. A weekend of adventure and entertainment in the Peak District. The format is simple, be active during the day and be entertained in the evening. If you have a taste for adventure, want to be inspired and try something new the Big Shakeout is for you. It's a not-for-profit festival run by Alpkit staff with all proceeds donated to the Alpkit Foundation.

The School of Adventure brings together some of the best instructors, guides and inspirationalists in one place with one aim: to inspire and educate in an amazing environment. The School of Adventure is about giving you the chance to try something completely new, learn the specific skills of a new discipline, or simply do more or do it better without committing to a whole weekend course.

Many of the sessions won't teach everything but they will give a set of core skills to work on, covering the discipines of adventure, cycling, caving, climbing, camp cooking, craft skills, outdoor swimming, canoe and kayaking, photography, running, walking and wellbeing. Here are just a few highlights...

Live music is the perfect accompaniment for a weekend of activity, here's a taste who will be bringing music to your ears at the Big Shakeout

Music is the beating heart of the Big Shakeout Festival... and a great excuse for us all to let our hair down, bob our heads, and move our feet.

Our talent scouts are out searching for music that you just can't help dancing to (as well as music that you can sit back and relax to). Don't worry, we'll make sure you're the first to know when the line up goes live!

Good food and drink are worth savouring, enjoying, and sharing... (like the best adventures!) Check out what's on the menu at the Big Shakeout

As much as we love creating delicious culinary concoctions on our camping stoves, sometimes it's nice to give your stove the day off, hang up your rucksack and have a hearty hot meal made for you (preferably with a nice beer too!).

Free Tea and Coffee

At registration, we'll equip you with a Big Shakeout Mug that you can use to make the most of free tea and coffee all weekend. Hurrah for that!
