Alpine summer touring, peak district cafe-hopping (on-road or off), bike packing trips… Strada are made for comfort when riding, as well as when refuelling for the next leg of the journey…
Strada shorts sit comfortably between baggy and tight-fitting. They’re designed for function and fit no matter how and where you ride and work pretty well for the bit where you get off your bike and hike up a mountain too.
Strada fabric is light and breathable, with four-way stretch and a tailored cut that feels good to ride in. The shorts are articulated for your position on the bike, with a high back and no-stretch waist so they don’t ride down. The legs are cut to be well-fitting yet unrestrictive over your thighs and sit just above the knee, leaving room for knee pads and layering comfortably over undershorts if you need them. They feature deep front pockets and zipped hip pockets that sit out of the way when you’re riding.
Durable, breathable and quick-drying with a water repellent coating, you can wear Strada day-in day-out and hang them to dry overnight if you’re unlucky with the weather.
- Slim-fitting and stretchy for comfort on and off the bike.
- Quick-drying and packable, ideal for lightweight touring.
- Two zipped hip pockets that don’t restrict your movement when riding.
- Mesh inner at the waist for breathability.
- Feel good layered over bib shorts or undershorts.
- Water repellent coating to shed water.
- 3 Year Alpine Bond

Early doors review
Mine arrived Weds, commuted in them Thurs. Love the fabric. Fastening and pocket design are very good IMHO. Worn over liner shorts. The Stradas disappear while riding. Very comfy. Seem deep than other baggy/over shorts I have which is nice. Size wise; I went for XXL as I generally wear 38" off the peg trousers. Very slightly loose but nothing a belt didn't solve. Not sure I'd get away with the XL but I may give it a go next purchase. My new faces, but as said very early days but other than a fault appearing I can't see me revising my score. Can we have a trouser version?
Excellent riding shorts
I love these shorts. I'm a 34" and medium fit me perfectly. I do wear them with a belt. Worn them cycling touring, gravel riding and hilly audax. Lightweight, so comfortable with practical zipped pockets that keep essential items safe. Absoltely brilliant. Another great alpkit product.
Great Shorts - not just for cycling!
I love these shorts. They are cool enough, stretchy enough and look great. The pockets are just the right size and they wash and wear very well. Mine are now 6 months old.
I'd buy another pair... IF they had some sort of waist adjustment. I don't particularly want to wear a belt when I'm cycling and although they fit me perfectly around the thigh and buttocks, they fall down when I get out of the saddle if I'm not wearing a belt. Hence only 4 stars. They're great for walking in (with a belt!), but I just find that I have to yank them up all the time when cycling - especially if I'm wearing lycra underneath.
So when you design the next incarnation - please include some sort of waistband adjustment!
I live in these shorts
These shorts are great. I wear them every day commuting 20km on a Brompton, plus have used them for bikepacking, hiking, and everything between. The fabric's great and works well, quick drying in the wet. I need another pair to for when the others are in the wash!
Only downside is sizing - they're big. I'm a 31 inch waist and the small is roomy. I've added a belt and they're fine, but without it they don't stay in place when riding or walking. Perhaps an adjustable waist, or a belt included would help?
Overall, thanks Alpkit for another great product.
Great fabric, length and design. But way too loose around the waist in a medium - have to wear wth a belt or they would be unusable. I'm 32" waist, bought medium and they look like a L, possibly XL, around the waist.
It's just as well that Alpkit's returns are so easy as I am returning my second pair of these shorts. I usually take 34 waist trousers, I'm 179cm and 75Kg. I ordered Large and they were enormous, sent back to exchange for Medium. To my disappointment, these are also much too big - even with a belt they are far too loose around the seat area. I'd be tempted to try Small, out of interest but I have given up at this stage.
