Dozer

It had been a cloudy day but still hot, an easy one to forget the suncream. Matt had taken the unusual decision to wear a vest for the day as the climbs were going to be long and he wanted to top up his tan. Later he collapsed, his shoulders burning either side of his chainring tattoo.

Features

7.5cm thick, this is the most comfortable sleeping mat we make. It is so fat it needs two valves to help you squeeze all of the air out of it. We know people looking at this mat are interested in maximum comfort so the surface fabric is a heavier, more luxurious, soft touch polyester than the rest of the range. The foam is cored in a lateral direction through the mid section of the mat to increase warmth and support. In other areas we have die cut the foam to save weight, reduce pack size and decrease self-inflation time.

Alternatives? You may also wish to consider our Wideboy sleeping mat. Lighter and more compact than Dozer, Wideboy is the mat of choice if you are looking to maximise your comfort but you may need to carry it occasionally.

Further Information

Getting started with your new sleeping mat
Your new Alpkit sleeping mat is self-inflating however it does not pop-up by magic. All of our mats are stored tightly compressed in our warehouse so the foam inside your mat will need a little exercise before it regains its full self-inflating power. For this reason we recommend following these 5 steps before taking your mat camping. Alternatively watch our Getting Started video guide.

1) Unroll your mat and undo the valves
2) Leave for 15 mins as it starts to suck in air and inflate
3) Close one of the valves
4) Blow into the mat until solid and close the valve. Do not use a mechanical pump
5) Leave for 24 hrs

Once this has been done you should find that upon deflation and re-inflation, it will take about 5 mins to draw in enough air for you to sleep on. To make your mat firm you will always need to add extra air by breathing into it.. about six for a Dozer, another 3 or 4 if you like it really firm.
To deflate your mat open the valves and roll the mat from the opposite end to expel all of the air. Close the valve to stop the mat from reinflating itself.
To give the mat the best chance of self inflating, it needs to be stored open with the valves open. By following this advice you can ensure the fastest possible inflation time on your campsite.
Sleep with the Alpkit logo facing up, your head at the valve end and your feet at the opposite end.. zzzzz
