Why have Alpkit designed their own bikes?

As many of our customers are probably aware, we are seasoned bike-lovers here at Alpkit HQ. But the concept of manufacturing bikes was something that had been often pondered but shook off as chimerical reverie. In late 2014, the conversation changed its tune. Why couldn’t we make bikes?

Biking is what we do, it is what we love. We have a vast conglomeration of experience amongst these 4 walls; we know the market, we know what is already out there, and what isn’t. We know our customers, we know the factories, we have the designs and we have the long-time dream of wanting a range of frames that we would like to use ourselves.

We wanted bikes that were built for adventure travel, cycle touring, long multi-day, off road adventures and big days out in the hills. We wanted a bike that would get us to the mountain, a bike to get us up the mountain and bike to get us back down the mountain.

Although all the bikes are compatible with bike luggage, it was not a direct design point. The bikes are designed for the experience.

So, Sonder was born and the first 3 bikes will be available from 5th November 2015.

Everyone one has a story. What will you make of yours?
