“Welcome to AK Keswick! Fancy a cuppa? Feel free to take a look around the store, take out a demo bike, sit in a tent, read a magazine, or just have a natter – it’s always good to hear what you’ve been up to. With the Lakeland mountains just out the front door and Derwent just down the road, you couldn’t really ask for a better basecamp than this!"
Mark, Alpkit Retail Manager
Our base in the North Lake District, we stock the entire Alpkit product range inside, from the teeniest Kraku stove to our fully featured Definition waterproof: you can jump around on the bouldering pads, try on a wetsuit, fit our bikepacking luggage on your bike or snuggle up in a expedition sleeping bag.

A true country bumpkin with a passion for the outdoors, Abby grew up in the Lake District. She loves cycling Cumbrian roads (normally to Sykes Farm for ice cream), swimming in lakes, running, rowing, climbing and having adventures with Bowder the dog. When she manages to sit still, she loves to draw.
Ali dabbles in most outdoor and mountain sports: climbing, trail running, hiking, paddling and more, all over the UK and beyond. She even takes her passion for dance and yoga to the fells! Pop in to the shop to dream about your next adventure with her.
Having competed in cross country, triathlon and athletics whilst in the military, Lee’s passion for fitness and outdoors has taken him all over the world including the Sahara desert and the Costa Rican jungle. He can often be found running around the tops of Blencathra.
Fell walker, trail runner, nature lover and cafe enthusiast, Paul has been lucky enough to live in Keswick for the last 14 years, mostly running a B&B. He’s now looking forward to more big days in the fells and further camping adventures.
Having swapped cross country skiing in the south of Italy (where she grew up) for roaming the Lake District fells, Viri takes every opportunity to get outside. She’s been running a B&B for over a decade, and in her free time she’s often found running up a hill, walking or wild swimming.
A keen climber, Tom has a wild optimism that lets him haul himself up routes he probably has no right to be on. When not in the shop or instructing, Tom is usually questioning his sanity from the face of a large foreign cliff. Otherwise, he’s a fan cosy sofas and food (mainly other people’s).
Coralie enjoys playing out in the mountains and is always up for having an adventure whatever the weather. She has a passion for climbing and mountain biking, dabbling in fell running on her rest days. When not at the Keswick store she’s out leading guided walks and delivering DofE course.
A Mancunian mountaineer, Rowan really enjoys being in the mountains and developing her skills bit by bit. She aspires to climb harder, better, faster, stronger – though is partial to a good view or chat too. Her periphery pursuits are numerous, and she’s quite used to that.
Jane is usually found out horseriding on the fells with a smile on her face. You might also see her out fell-running, where she’s a self-proclaimed tortoise (rather than a hare). She’s also been her dad’s climbing buddy since she could crawl.
We're constantly looking for an excuse to get out and about in the Lake District! You too huh? We run courses, events and lectures throughout the year to fulfil our cravings for adventure and inspiration, and meet a few new people whilst we're at it. If that sounds like it might be your jam, drop us a line by phone or email for more information or bookings.
