We are never standing still here at Alpkit, here is a preview of what is coming in over the next few months

Rucksack1200

Over the past 12 months our range of products has grown - but we don't sit still here at Alpkit! Along with continually evaluating and updating existing favourites, such as the new versions of the PipeDream and SkyeHigh sleeping bags, we have some new projects in the pipeline that are coming ever closer to being released. As you would expect, nothing is 100% final and we don't have every specification on all the products coming in, but we have some pretty pictures and a bit of information to whet your appetite...

First up - BIG NEWS - Socks are coming back!

Our range of socks were very popular, but after our UK based knitters closed their doors we were at a loss. We tried a few factories around the world, we even tried to crochet some socks, but nothing was as good. Finally we found an excellent manufacturer in the UK and sent over some smelly used versions of our old Akdrenalines, Trekkers, Aktif calf and Aktif ankle socks. They worked their magic and we have a new range due the end of this month.

Akdrenaline Socks -

Designed for the akdrenaline bikers out there, padding in all the right places, flat seams and ventilation on top - we even kept the terry heel and toe for those times when you need to hike a section, or forgot your pump or spare tube. The design keeps them comfortably secure on your foot, reducing slippage or cheeky rock ingress. They are a favourite for us in the office who want a go anywhere sock for biking, running or chilling at our desks.

Aktif ankle and Aktif Calf -

These socks have a little less padding around the ankle and extend a little further up your leg, the ideal walking or casual sock for all day wear, with plenty of cushioning underfoot and a comfy lightweight construction, left and right specific, ventilation on top and a bit of extra length for cooler days.

Trekker Socks -

Our hiking specific sock, a  tried and tested design with an ergonomic cut and padding where you need it. A sock for trips out into the hills in all but the depths of Winter.

New lights are on the delivery board!

The equinox is due on the 23rd of September, the days are going to start getting shorter and a few of us are digging out our headtroches ready for extending work rides home or those late evening runs. We have a new headtorch, the Muon, a new magnetic lamp, the Lamprey (See what we did there?) and the Blip accessory light.

The new Muon -

Designed as a lightweight trail running torch, but with 134 lumens of light it is ideal for ultra-races, hiking, climbing, dog-walking and camping.

Muon is lightweight; a mere 68 g which gives it a barely-there feel and great stability during wear. High powered CREE centre LED offering up to 134 lumens and 2 outer LEDs offering up to 31 lumens of spread floodlight beam.

The new Lamprey -

The idea behind the Lamprey was to bring together everything we have seen on numerous models of lights and get them into a neat little package. Packed with features, the Lamprey is magentic, has a handy clip for attachment, 196 lumen max output, but also 100, 10 and strobe settings. the Lithium battery is re-chargeable via USB and you can use the same USB to charge your phone; up to 3 hours of charging when Lamprey is fully charged.

Blip - Red accessory lights

Designed to attach on to the webbing or elastic of head torches, bike luggage, rucksacks or anything else you can think of. Available in 20mm or 25mm width, this 10g tiny light will last 95 hours and keep you on the radar.

Aluminium Compact Ultra trekking pole

Expanding on our already popular and classic Carbonlite trekking poles, the Compact Ultra is an impressively strong aluminium pole with an internal wire tensioner and snap lock design for maximum security. Weighing just over 250g and at only 38cm folded length, these are ideal for long distance trekking or walks where poles could come in handy. You will constantly fool and amaze your friends with the design and enjoy walking with these comfy poles.

AlpineDream sleeping bags

The next sleeping bag in the line up. 95/5 750+ Down, packed into thirteen box wall baffles in three weights - 700, 900 and 1100 grams. These bags are designed with all of us who want light, down, function filled bags, but don't want to compromise on comfort or space. The AlpineDream has enough space for you to zip yourself in and still change your socks or shuffle around into a comfy position while still retaining the heat. These bags are due in 2 - 3 months, but if you need a bag sooner check out the current range online.

Bikes and rucksacks

If you have been watching us like a hawk or you've possibly signed up on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram - you may have seen some sneak peaks of the new bikes and rucksacks we have been working on.

Our Sonder bikes are being designed in conjunction with Brant from Pact bikes - his frame designing history and expertise, along with our passion for adventure has now spawned into three bikes. The Camino, calibrated for long-distance comfort on rugged roads and paths. Broken Road, a rigid 650b+ off-road adventure bike for multi-day bikepacking. Lastly the Transmitter, a hardtail designed to take you beyond the trail centres and through big mountain days with a huge smile on your face. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more details very soon!

Then we have rucksacks, the latest development in our UK factory.  We love our Gourdon rucksacks, but admit that for those long mountain days, climbing or trekking the Gourdon may lack a few features. So we have taken the time to work on a back system, waist and shoulder straps that can be integrated into an inumerable amount of rucksack designs. We plan to have a basic version ready for late this Winter, in time for Christmas at least - with small batch runs and a large amount of options and resources we can hopeully fulfill what most are looking for in a pack.
