We visit OutDoor to find the latest trends and meet with others in the industry

Tent Village

Every July the outdoor industry decends on a small town in Southern Germany, Friedrichshafen, the large exhibition halls (Messe) - think Wembley Stadium x2 - fill with brands from around the world showing off their latest gear, trends for the following year and all the most advanced kit. For four days the halls are filled with a large amount of traders, marketing teams, press and product designers all researching, talking and moving the industry forward.

Alpkit are slightly different from most brands - as we don't sell to shops or the trade and we have a lot more flexibility when it comes to producing products we go out to see what's going on in the outdoor industry as a whole. But we don't have a stand to show off our gear. We do catch up with all of our international factories and the awesome guys at Fixe Roca.

The fair is steered towards the European market which is a lot more colourful than the UK - and the stands have a slightly different feel from your average outdoor chain or store in the UK. As part of the event there are several conferences covering everything from sustainable supply chains, marketing in a new digital world to looking at the safety testing of gear. One large part of the event is the outdoor trend show - the expected colours from a few brands from their 2016 range. Check out the pictures from around the event and keep an eye out for videos from UKClimbing.com and Epictv.com for a whole load of reviews.
