Alpine summer, Scottish Winter. Even when our trips don’t go 100% to plan, we wouldn’t trade that experience in for anything! (Well, maybe perfect weather…)
These ‘perfect seconds’ Kepler base layers are made to the same high standards as all our Merino garments. Unfortunately they were made to these high standards using the wrong pattern, so the neckline is a scoop neck rather than a crew.
What a quandary – they didn’t meet our rigorous quality control standards but we don’t want to send them to landfill. Luckily we found a silver lining: offer you the benefits of pure, ultra-fine Merino with an even tastier price tag than normal.
The fit is a little less ‘base layery’ than normal, but these Kepler Merino tops still look and feel really good. Check out the images for an idea of how they fit.

Really comfy top, slightly longer sleeve length (close to elbow) is great for when it's a bit cooler but too warm for a long sleeve. Went for this version as it's cheaper, I did find the wider neck meant my rucksack straps rubbed so I wouldn't wear this top for another hike with a large bag however would be great for any activity with no/small rucksack. The design is also casual enough that would be a good multi use option to take on a trip where light packing is essential.
I bought one of each colour as I love to wear merino. The colours are great - flattering, muted shades. They are really comfortable and I like the slightly longer arm length. I have been wearing them under a shirt as it is cold, but they are smart enough to wear on their own once it is warmer. The logo on the shoulder is pretty discreet. I bought the size I normally wear and the fit is perfect. I would definitely recommend them.
