Glowe compact camping lantern
Compact and lightweight, the Glowe lantern fits perfectly into any backpacker's sack. The retractable light chimney rests comfortably in the hand when using the Glowe as a torch. Then, when erected, the light chimney transforms the super bright beam into a secure, unfocussed glow of a lantern.
Spreader feet provide stability when the Glowe is stood on a surface whilst the foldaway hook allows the Glowe to be clipped into a tent or on to a convenient branch.
Powered by 3 x AAA batteries, the Glowe can provide the comfort and security of light for over 50 hours.

A constant companion, small, neat and in my pocket
I bought a couple of these little gems a few years ago and never regretted it. Typical Alpkit - they are well made, have a wee loop to hang from tent/string thing, fold-out feet and a luminous button on/off switch. The slidy light chimney is good too - reassuringly stiff and precise, doesn't go squinty or jam.
Battery life is as or better than claimed. I run them on ordinary alkaline batteries but they are physically compatible with rechargables - AK could tell you if the electronics are OK for the different current characteristics, I guess.
They are bright enough to be a useful torch when stumbling through the undergrowth or avoiding the dog sh*t. Also if you go to mass rallies of any sort there's a flashing mode which you could use to identify your tent (at least until everyone catches on).
As a lantern they provide good background light, although personally I don't really find them bright enough for extended task or reading light.
They are easily pocketable, hence I tend to just stuff one into my coat pocket, pack or trousers, even when not specifically setting out on a mission to go nice places and do good things.
At £12.50 they are a steal - I might even buy a third one!
Another brilliant bit of kit from alpkit! light, bright, can be hung or stands alone. Exactly what ive been looking for.
So pleased with it I'm buying another. Powerful yet pocketable.
Everyone loves these
Now bought several of these. One at home for general torchiness, lamp for the cupboard under the stairs, finding the loft light switch, etc. One left at the power cut prone holiday home in deepest, darkest north Norfolk (and it gets REALLY dark). Two given to sister and brother in-law who live next to a loch near the falls of Glomach, also prone to power outages. They have had nothing but praise for these lights.
Good, bright torch beam. Lantern bright enough for tasks from camp cooking to sawing shelves outside. Nice size in the pocket and excellent battery life. Yet another indispensable item from AK, officially my favourite supplier of 'stuff'.
Also makes a very good bike light (as it can be seen from the side) strapped to the bars with one of those cheap double velcro and rubber thingies, especially with the switch being on the bottom.
I am slowly buying almost everything AK make!
Fantastic little torch..best I've ever had
