Compact Ultra trekking pole

Great flexibility now comes with great rigidity, a compact aluminium trekking pole which packs down almost to the length of a school ruler!
If you are on a mountainous trek it is unlikely you will want your poles in your hands all the time. You might face a tricky scramble where you just need to stow them away fast, the shorter your poles the less likely they are to get in the way.
The lower sections fit together just like a tent pole, you then pull out the lower section which tightens the internal cable and locks tight with a push button lock. The length of the pole is adjusted by sliding the handle section up and down and is secured into place with a single easy operation snap lock widget. As there is just one locking mechanism it is easier to maintain.
The Compact Ultras break down to a stumpy 38 cm for stashing onto a daypack or even stashing into your hold luggage.
At the business end of the pole the hard tungsten tip provides great grip as well as ensuring longevity, while for more delicate terrains we provide a rubber tip protector. A screw fit rubber basket helps stop you pushing through boggy ground or even getting your poles trapped between rocks.

Used this pole all winter on many munro days and it's great. Light weight and stow away easy.
We recently used these poles for 10 days trekking the Tour du Mont Blanc. They are very robust and offer great value for money. However it would be good if Alpkit could offer those with larger hands and wrists the opportunity to have bigger straps. With gloves on they just fit and I don't have large hands..
Excitedly opened my package today, Definition jacket (looks like a great bit of kit) and 2 x compact ultra poles. Poles' feel really sturdy which is great as I wanted a tough bit of gear to deal with some Scottish mountain days. Struggled with the 'Nordic' attachment, I kind of got it to fit but thought I'd done something wrong so I called Alpkit to check that I'd not been a numpty. The attachment is really small, only just goes around my hand and goes nowhere near with a glove on. I'm not a big guy, medium on a good day but these things feel like I'm trying to put on something made for a child. Alpkit said they are not designed to go on over a glove (in the uk?? Really??) and that the product page an the site stated this (just checked but can't see). So I'm a bit flummoxed with these, off to Scotland in 2 days with lovely new poles that I now have to doctor in order to make them functional. Really sorry to leave a negative review but it just honest feedback.
