Lake District Photo Walk

Location: Alpkit Ambleside

Explore one of the Lake District’s little gems, learn some camera tricks and help a good cause!

Discover the big views as well as looking for the details and take home some unforgettable images as we explore Loughrigg. During the day, led by Eric Pye (local photographer and AK Store Hero!) you will have the opportunity to take lots of photographs and ask any photographic questions you might have.

Although the days walking will be at a leisurely pace, there will be ups and downs following footpaths and trails, so a moderate level of fitness will be required.

All proceeds will go to the Alpkit Foundation, the charity that enables people to Go Nice Places and Do Good Things by making small awards to people, groups and schools that work to remove the barriers in getting outdoors and experiencing wild places. Spending time outdoors is good for the mind, body and soul. But generally people are spending less time outdoors. That is a problem the AKF are helping to tackle.

Your guide: Eric Pye

I love being outdoors. I used to be focussed on getting to the top, reaching the end and, sometimes, going quickly. Now, whilst I still enjoy those things, I also like to look around the corner and sit awhile in quiet appreciation. There's lots to appreciate. Not just the grand view or the dramatic panorama, but also the small details that knit together to make the fabric of the land; coloured lichen patterning the rocks in a stream, the spray of a waterfall, clouds reflected in a tiny patch of water or the patchwork of light flitting over a hillside. These are the things that inspire me to use my camera in an attempt to tell the story of these places and times.
