Alpkit Katabatic What a lovely jacket.

Pre-ordered one as soon as I heard alpkit were making a primaloft gold jacket. First impressions it doesn't disappoint really comfortable jacket the matte finish is very soft and the fleece at the top of the zip is a lovely touch. Im 6ft slimish and large fits pretty well good length on the arms with a good fit round the body. Only worn it in the currently freezing city look forward to taking it out and testing it properly. Lovely warm and comfortable.

Spring trip to NZ South island

I used this bag through November 2016 in the S.Island NZ for backcountry fishing exploits - down to around 0 degrees some nights. This bag is made for such a climate and as an all round solution for world travellers avoiding Alpine conditions below around -5 min it must be one of the very best out there. Very comfortable dimensions for me 5'11" 98kg broad shouldered and superb pack size / weight. No frills so long term test will need appraisal a few years down the line. If it's anything like my old skye-high for durability it will pass with flying colours - would love one in Dark grey, Olive or Black. Alpkit colours a little bright for me generally. Also watch the price as usual guys.

Good introduction to drops

Before I start I need to give you my point of view. I don't own a road bike, I won't own a road bike. I have a cross bike and I treat it mean. It is my first drop handled bike. Coming from big mountain bike bars I was worried that I would not get on this drops but I love these! I can get my head down and go fast. I can move all over the place. The best bit is that the stay stable over the rough stuff.

great fit and utility

Really loving my new parallax trousers. I ran in them last night, didn't know they were on, no flapping about,no constantly pulling them up really good fit. excellent!

Simple Effective Design

I love these. They are the lightest way of sorting kit in a bigger bag and allow things to air off if you forget to unpack it as soon as you get home.

Prism 630

Wow.. have just received my new Prism 630 head torch, as always a speedy delivery. The torch feels very robust, I thought it might be a bit heavy but the straps hold it really snug. The 500 Lumins are incredible cant wait to get it up on the fells this winter. After taking the dog out for a dark West Cumbrian run out I have to say I am very impressed, for the money this could be a very good torch, super comfortable and stable, great lighting, very bright and has good variety of settings. Good job.

Quark Review

Short version: great value high power light with good range of modes and cool light sensitive adaptive mode I haven't found at this price point!
Head band issue, easily resolved - turn it around!

Longer version...
Received this the other day and I have used this for pottering about in these dark winters and for running my local loop - rural Mid-Wales so street lighting count is about 2... I choose the Quark as it is rechargeable and has the light sensing option intrigued me! Whilst this only allows a selection of the whole modes, it has proved very useful and I have used this mode the most. It works well and provides plenty of light. Yes, as the previous review has stated, the beam is fairly centrally weighted, but show me a high power LED in this price point that isn't, however, I am hard on my kit and have gone through several different models, and the Quark provides a lovely halo of softer light around - whilst running, I can see the way ahead... way ahead! and the ground in front of me.
Another review mentions the headband, mine came like this too, so I turned the band around, easy 2 minute fix - certainly no issues.

Quark

Review update; 'Justdrew' you're a genius-swapping the head band around works a treat and now the two cable clips are unhindered by the buckle and are free to slide fully between the torch at the front and the power pack at the rear. Good work and worth an extra star!!

BruPot

The reduction in cooking time and the fuel savings that this pot makes are just phenomenal! A humble meths pot performs more like a gas burner. An instant favourite. Get one.

HEIKO JACKET, WOMENS

THIS JACKET IS BRILLIANT, AND SOOO LIGHTWEIGHT. I NEVER GET TOO HOT IN IT (LIKE I DO HALF WAY THROUGH THE WALK IN A NORMAL JACKET). ITS MY NEW FAVOURITE DOG WALKING JACKET. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS JACKET

Fantastic cook set

I used this set for a week long rough camp in the highlands in November, all our food, and hot drinks were made with these as well as all my water filtered and then boiled with them, at the end of a week of hard use living outside they still look new!
We're easy to keep clean, had no taste and though titanium isn't a good conductor boiled very fast,
Great light weight cook kit for one or two.

Cloudbase is brillaint

An excellent mat used to replace my helium. It's lite and comfy and long enough. I'm 6ft 5 and 110kg and it stays inflated all night. Another excellent product from alpkit. Thanks

Great head torch!

Over the last couple of years I have been thoroughly impressed by both the quality and value of Alpkit products.
I needed a new head torch as winter was drawing in at an alarming rate and hours of light were rapidly decreasing.
When the Viper 2 arrived, I was amazed to find that a small stuff sack is included to store and protect the lamp.
Initially I found the method of changing mode difficult and cumbersome but after my first use, it was second-nature and surprisingly intuitive.
After testing the lamp for a few months, trail running and normal use I can say that it is fantastic. Whilst running I found that the 'medium' beam normally sufficed but you could adjust appropriately. The SOS mode is also a nice feature.
My only gripe would be that the battery compartment requires some effort to get into, but overall - it's just brilliant!

Perfect

On a hot day's walk this top has great wicking ability, doesn't show the damp patches, and at the end of the day didn't smell too bad either!

Perfect fit as well.

Wore this with the Timbuktroos trouser, and the combination worked very well.

I'll be buying more of these, such a great price.

Great coat for value !

Best coat I've ever had, used with -2ºC and light wind and rain.

Pros:
- Light, really very very light.
- Forearm enforcement is amazing.
- Smooth texture.
- Excellent protection against cold but it's not excessively warm, you get a stable confort temperature.

Cons:
- Waist elastic band gets relaxed once you start walking but is the same for all the brands, I dindn't find a reliable mechanism to get the band tied to you waist.
- Better if the coat would be a little large at Kidney's area.
- Few plumes in shoulder's area.
- No close mechanism for wrists.

In love with this coat, I use it every day. I'm going to buy a Definition for rainy days.

Although this is the first time I buy this brand, it has become my new favourite.

Propper Awesome

Ace mat this. Buzzing at the price when I found it, even more satisfied at its quality. Slept on it in a rocky cave for a windy bivvy on the moors. It evened out a bad surface well, even when turning all night to get my face out the gusts as the wind changed.

10/10 would recommend & have recommended

Stefan
I love it

This mat is amazing...light, smal packable and does fit my sleeping habits.

I need 15-17 breaths to fill it.
After the first night (-6°C) I thought my matt has a smal leak also, like one of the previous guys mentioned. But it was just the cooling down of the air.
Just think about it...You push a high volume of 35-30°C air inside the mat at first. As soon as it cool down to the surrounding temps the pressure will lower also.
Just make sure to inflate the mat some time before the sleeping and add some more air after the cooling down/right before sleeping...everything will be perfect!

Keep on with your great work Alpkit!

Seriously in love

I've worn this jacket almost on a daily basis, used it as a warm layer while wild camping, worn it on runs in full on mountain conditions and it's never let me down! It's light weight and stupendously warm for its weight. The hood is big enough to fit over a hefty bobble hat. The only two things I'd say are that if you run with it on, it'll get damp (which doesnt stop it being warm) so a long sleeve base or mid layer helps, although this only effect the jacket if your doing something really active in it. Also, It'd be great to have a hood that has the simple and effective adjustment that the gravitas hood has. That'd make the hood even better, esepcially if you get caught in some seriously windy conditions.

Great piece of kit

This pot is really light and perfect for solo or twin adventures. It brews water super quick even in wind and the handles are very useable. Still unsure quite what the neoprene cover is designed for but it doesnt bother me. It also fits a gas cannister, wind shield and my stove inside. Excellent piece of kit.

Caro
Absolutely brilliant

This neat little cooking stove is perfect for one pot meals, soup or a good brew on top of the mountain.
