Airics worth their weight in gold
By AK Admin | 15, May, 2007
Back in February Moragh contacted us about our Airic Self-Inflating camping mats. She was planning an extended trip travelling around the USA and was concerned that many nights spent on hard hotel beds would be uncomfortable for her. As she sleeps curled up on her side she gets sore hips and shoulders on a hard mattress. To be honest it is a use we had never thought of ... but Moragh set off with two Wee Airics under her arm (or should I say in her suitcase) and was kind enough to send us a personal field test report. The size and weight of the Wee Airics enabled her to keep within the strict baggage limits of the airlines.
Hi Jim, Col, Kenny and Nick I just wanted to let you know that the two Wee Airic mats I bought from you a couple of months ago have proved their weight in gold during my trip to the USA. I returned to the UK a few days ago from a four week trip to the States. As I mentioned when I ordered them I always find that hotel beds are too hard for me and using the two mats one on top of the other provided me with the cushioning I needed. I used a microfibre sports towel on top of them to absorb any moisture from sweating and then placed them underneath the bottom sheet on the bed which kept them clean and in place. During my trip I travelled about 3,500 miles within the USA staying at most a week anywhere but often only one night. The mats were so easy to inflate and deflate for packing each time I moved on. I had a marvellous trip meeting up with e-mail and MySpace friends (18 on my list including 3 friends of a friend) and I met everyone that I intended to.. plus many more.. plus a week with my sister in Boston. I started in Florida for 4 days meeting friends I had been e-mailing for over two years, then flew to Boston to my sister's for a week, then flew to Nashville TN for 5 days. From there I picked up a hire car and had a weekend at Newport TN near the Smoky Mountains at the home of a MySpace friend and then I drove back to Florida staying a night each at Cartersville GA, Albany GA, Valdosta GA and two nights at the Suwannee Music Park meeting more friends on the way. My last three days were back at Sanford FL (near Orlando) where I started my trip. I was treated like royalty by all I met and spoilt to death with meals out, visits to their homes, presents of CDs, DVDs and t-shirts, etc. It was a trip of a lifetime.. but I hope it won't be the last. Thanks to your mats I had a good nights sleep wherever I went.. and thanks again too for your excellent service. Best wishes Moragh
