Daring Deeds - real stories, expeditions, road trips and adventure
Keswick Mountain Festival Report
By Kenny Stocker | 20, May, 2013
We have just unpacked our van from another Kewsick Mountain Festival. It was great to see some familiar faces and give our new look stand a proper test in the great outdoors.
This show has to have the best views of any UK outdoor event, and our gazebo had a prime spot looking straight down the lake. Behind us an inflatable crash pad gave kids the opportunity to test their bike jumping skills in safety, perhaps one day we will see them on the MAD bike demo team!
The wet weather on Saturday shut down the giant inflatable crash pad but didn't stop a steady stream of visitors trying out open water swimming in Derwentwater. Canoeing was also popular but there was a lot going on that we didn't see. Many courses and activities take place offsite in the forests, fells and valleys around Keswick.
Sunday brightened up for the sell out Triathlon and marathon 40km trail run up England's highest peak Scafell Pike. It is always a shame to be maning a stand when everyone else is having all the fun, be a good way to get psyched for the next free weekend!
