Setting off for the Colorado Trail 2011

Tomorrow at 06:30 I’m setting off on the Colorado Trail Race.
Basically, I’m trying to ride just short of 500 miles with 65,000” climbing (twice up Everest or the 21 times up Snowdon…) in about a week. I’ve got to carry all my own food and gear. I’m really looking forward to 300+ miles of single track. It looks like about 70 people are starting at the same time as me - which is unprecedented, considering only 40 or so people have ever finished.

Mel and I have spent the week over here so I can try and get used to the altitude and the temperature. The bike is sorted and I’m raring to go.

I’ll be carrying a satellite tracker which updates the race page and gives more detail here.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out. Hopefully I’ll see you all soon with loads of great stories and pictures.
