News - update on all things Alpkit
On the first Sunday of every month this winter, join the Alpkit and Sonder bikes team for a series of organised gravel rides alongside some local gravel riding legends.
Each ride will start from one of Alpkit’s flagship stores located in some of the best cycling locations in the UK. Discover new places to ride and make some new friends while you're at it. What's not to love?!
A GPX file of the route will be sent prior to the event after you've confirmed your booking through Eventbrite. The route can be completed fast or at your own pace, but just remember this is a social ride with gravel enthusiasts and that you are fully self-supported. There will be cakes and refreshments back at the store and plenty of time to catch up about the highs and lows of the ride.
If you'd like to give one of the Sonder bikes a try for a particular ride of the series, please contact the store directly two weeks in advance. The hire of the bike will be free of charge, but it will be on a first-come first-served basis, so move quickly!
Exclusively for this series, you will receive some Alpkit & Sonder goodies upon completion of the ride, and the more rides you complete within the series the more goodies you can get!
Tickets will be £5 and all proceeds will be donated to the Alpkit Foundation.
The full details of the series are:
- Ambleside - Sunday 1st December 2019
- Gateshead - Sunday 5th January 2020
- Hathersage - Sunday 2nd February 2020
- Keswick - Sunday 1st March 2020
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in contact with one of our store teams.
We hope to see you out on the trail!

Idea of distance ?
Hello roughly what sort of distance will these rides be ? I'm up for coming and doing them all but will be traveling a long way to do them, I'd they are only a 20km social bimble it won't be worth while. It'd be good to know roughly how long before I book on
Ability level please?
I own bikes, I ride sometimes, so my fitness level/ stamina isn't great, but my enthusiasm is. A beginners ride last year from the Hathersage office was very difficult I found, (Stanage hills and climbs) even though touted to beginners. What do you think would be a good one for me to take part in? I can and do ride say 20km
depending on severity. Keswick and Hathersage are accessible for me easily, Gateshead not so much. Thanks guys,
