New Defibrillator for Mountain Rescue

Part-funding a defibrillator for the Edale Mountain Rescue Team

Edale Mountain Rescue is one of the busiest MR Teams in the country.

Operating in a hugely popular area of the Peak District National Park, they have been called out to over 70 incidents in so far this year, and the number is always growing (especially when it's lovely sunny weekend!), and deal with injuries sustained through climbing, mountain biking, walking, fell running, trial biking, paragliding… even fishing! (we're a little confused about that one too).

Their role is multi-faceted and they are often involved in missing person searches, rescues and casualty care in adverse conditions. Their team is made up entirely of volunteers and they receive no central funding from the government, relying wholly on donations to run their team.

The Edale Mountain Rescue Team is made up entirely of volunteers who give up their time freely

We love to get out and about out of doors, and although we never plan on having accidents, becoming stuck, or getting caught out by the weather, it is a huge comfort to know that Mountain Rescue Teams across the country have our backs should we find ourselves in a sticky situation.

So, when the Edale Team asked us to part-fund a new defibrillator, we were stoked to be able to help them!

The team now has two new defibrillators, meaning that all their vehicles and first response bags are equipped with defibrillators and the team can treat those in need out in the field.

Although we hope we won’t be calling them out to the hills anytime soon, we always enjoy bumping into them around Hope Valley!

The Alpkit Foundation supports projects that enable people to overcome the obstacles preventing them from Going Nice Places and Doing Good Things.
