The first winter bouldering series gets underway with a good crowd coming to enjoy the problems

Last weekend saw the first round of the first winter bouldering series to be held at The Climbing Unit. It was a great night with a really good turn out, depsite the annual Nottingham beer festival taking place. There were plenty of the usual high quality problems, music, friendly banter, sweets and of course coffee. This should pan out to be a great first winter series for The Climbing Unit, in being both challenging and enjoyable no matter what your level of climbing is. So come along and get stuck in.

We are of course delighted to be supporting the series and we also headed down with a small selection of hoodies and t-shirts, but mainly to enjoy the vibe. We'll be sure to head down again, so keep an eye out for what we're up to.

Jack Ramsden gave a strong performance and came out on top in the juniour male, Martha Lubczynskyj the junior female. Mike Bate came top of the senior male, Flo Tilley the female. Oliver Espinosa heads up the male vets, with Anita Aggarwal the female. Then in the legends we have our own Derrick Bolger hotly competing against Wayne Ridal for supremacy.

There are still another 5 rounds and it is the best 4 rounds adding to your overall score, plus the final round is double points, so plenty of time still to get involved.

Results and images of Round 1 can be found on The Climbing Unit website and for further goings on check out their Facebook page.
