Aiding Training for Ten Tors

Support Antony in the beginning of their Junior Ten Tors journey.

Antony Primary School have never entered a team into the Junior Ten Tors before and with help from a Alpkit Foundation grant it will allow further training to take place in order get the project off the ground at school.  JTT encourages children to get outdoors and work as a team to navigate across the moors where they cook and spend the night before setting off again the next morning to meet finish point.

Stephanie takes up the story as to why it's important for the school. "We haven't entered JTT before and I think it would be a fantastic opportunity for our children to get involved in, especially as they live so close to the moors. I feel it may encourage children to get their parents out with them too and we can build on the Outdoor Education in our school. We are brand new to this and support to get this project off the ground would be amazing. I, myself, haven't done this sort of thing before and am looking to do it purely to give these children a wider opportunity and knowledge of their local area."

With the skills and training gained it means that an established JTT programme can offer the same opportunity to subsequent pupils coming through year 6.
