BSO Tittesworth Introduction to Sailing

Preview

Learn the ropes of Sailing in Tittesworth Reservoir

Suitability: 8 years and over, under 16s must be accompanied by an adult

We roam mountains, valleys, and moors. We paddle rivers and lakes and we surf beaches, but when it comes to the big blue sea, much is left unexplored.

Well enough is enough! 70% of our earth is ocean and it's about time we explored it. The Peak District is a little too far from the sea for us to explore it over the weekend, but we can set you on the right path in the beautiful Tittesworth Reservoir, where you'll learn to sail in a safe environment under the guidance of experienced instructors.

This Introduction to Sailing course will have you swashbuckling in no time. You'll be working closely with the instructor to develop your knowledge and techniques, including:

  • Preparing to get on the water,

  • Setting up your boat,

  • Sailing individually in a Laser Pico sailboat (single-hander),

  • Sailing as part of a crew in a Laser Stratos sailboat (crew boat),

  • Learning sailing terminology,

  • Understanding wind and weather.
