Loads to do on a bike at this year's Shakeout
Nestled close to some of the best natural trails in the country it is no great surprise biking features so highly at the Big Shakeout.
This year we welcome Sat Nav Sam back from his "2010 till When" world tour. We'll also welcome former round the world record holder Vin Cox as he joins us again, heading out on his bike to forage for his tea. We'll have a good smattering of bike flicks in the cafe and you can catch up with the exploits of all the bike expeditions we have supported this year in our daring deeds gallery.
Over on the skills area of Thornbridge Outdoors, Campbell Coaching will be on hand to help improve your riding in one of their performance coaching clinics. In the Core Skills workshop they review and assess the little things that can make such a big difference to your riding. Founder and head coach Ally Campbell will also be running a Ladies Only Core Skills session on the Sunday morning. If getting into the air is your thing, their Jumps and Drops session will send you off in control and in the right direction. No matter how proficient a rider you are either of these session will improve your riding.
On the trails you can spend the day with Benji Haworth, freelance mountain bike hack, as he reveals the secrets to taking great mountain biking photos in his Spoke & Shutters workshop. Campbell Coaching will also be leading out a guided ride on Sunday morning to clear away the cobwebs of the night before.
The Monsal Trail is a family friendly cycle path and the festival site backs right on to it. Onsite there is a pump track, skills loop and mountain bike skills area to hone and refine your skills on. Hire bikes will be available onsite throughout the festival if you can’t bring along your own.
