My Pipedream800 arrived yesterday(tuesday) after ordering sunday pm. I will tell you how it performs on my solo wild camping cycle touring adventure in the outer hebrides in October when/if I return
One comment, on the bag, the fabric is labelled as Pertex Quantum not Toray as described. Is this a 2007 model? If so, are there any other differences?
I have recently discovered your website after spending ‘quite some time’ trolling through t’internet and shops in search of a reasonably priced down bag. I like the look of your site and your whole approach to marketing your products. I have been camping for years, mostly in fair weather, both on sites and on the hill, but now want to go out and do some winter stuff with Jack Frost. I really like the sound of your PipeDream bags and I think I will soon be placing an order.
In anticipation,
Colin
I waited 12 months to post a review so that I could see how the pd600 performed year round.
I camp outside a British nuclear weapons factory a couple of nights every month all seasons, and have taken it to the Alpujarras and on a few other excursions - so regular use. Not quite serious mountaineering, but still, one year on and its a top bag, never been cold or damp, zips still great, compresses down nice. Never needed my old gortex bivvy.
Great product, price and service. Will come back for more gear when I need/can afford. Thanks
Have used my Pipedream 400 a few times now in the UK spring, in temperatures down to about 0C. It’s just warm enough for me at that temperature, with a tent. The side zip is good and doesn’t snag. My only concern is that the fabric seems less breathable than that on other down sleeping bags. It seems a bit sticky next to the skin, even if I’m not actually too warm.
It’s always seemed to me that the best construction for a sleeping bag is to have side baffles, as in the Skyehigh range, so that the down cannot migrate down the sides of the bag during the night, leaving you well insulated on top. Why then do you not adopt the same construction technique for the more expensive Pipedream range?
I ordered my PD600 yesterday and it arrived this morning! obviously haven’t had a chance to try it out yet but it looks very snug and am looking forward to trying it out in Alaska in a month’s time after a chilly weekend in Norway last week with my old sleeping bag… Great service!
What can I say, ordered on Tuesday morning, arrived on Wednesday morning. Sterling service as usual. Another one of many Alpkit products I’ve bought (starting to look like I’m sponsored!) Not had a chance to use the bag in anger yet as its just arrived but super chuffed with the quality of the bag (PD 600). Was a bit worried about the snugness of the fit but can get in with my Filo on nae bother for when the mercury plummets and plenty room for the down to loft. Cheers Alpkit (again!)
Pipedream 400 (+Hunka) - was flawless over Easter around Scafell Pike despite the wind and snow, cheaper lighter and warmer than anything else.
Excellent customer service, would buy more alpkit kit if there was more of it.
Two toasty thumbs up.

Ordered my Pipedream 600 over 3 weeks ago: got it as planned, even with a hand written note from Alpkit!
I like to climb mountains (sportclimbing) as I did 2 weekends ago in Gemany, Ith. It was early in the season so the camping was still closed. We decided to sleep on the patio from the little wooden house (not open) that was stationed on the campingsite(why put up a tent when you can sleep in the “open”).
The first night it was around +2 degrees Celsius but the second night the mercury went down to around -3 degrees. First night I had on a T-shirt and my boxers. The second night (because it was going to be cold) I held on my thermal shirt and left my socks on as well. Not for long I had to take of both my socks and my thermal shirt because it was to warm for me!
In the mornings a lot of dew, but that was no problem for my Pipedream: kept me warm and dry. Price is great, quality even better: my fellow camper was jealous because he paid a lot more for equal quality (MacPac).
I give it a 10 out of 10 as for me the weight, quality and price are absolutely brilliant!(The hood could have been a bit bigger and the drawcords, when tightened firm, will cut a little so you have to loosen them. But hey: the bag is under 1 kg!!!)
Thanks Alpkit for this great sleeping bag.
Kind regards,
Gijs
Hi Everyone
A few people seem to have the old labels sewn into the bags. The bags used to be made from Pertex but are now made from Toray.
All bags that have left Alpkit in the last 18 months or so have been made with Toray.
Cheers
Nick
