I have just returned from 4 nights camping at the Latitude Festival in Suffolk. It was my first outing with my new Regular Airic and what a difference it made to my camping experience. Up until now I was using a camp bed which was extremely uncomfortable in contrast the Airic is blissful to lie on, it cushions all the bits that normally ache after a night under canvas and is also wide enough so you can roll about and get comfy too.
In addition to this have a tendency to feel the cold, in fact at last year’s Reading festival I got so cold i thought I was going to die so I was really worried about having a similar experience again but I needn’t have worried.
The Airic is amazing it kept me really warm, I even had to remove my fleece and socks in the night because I was too warm. I also slept more than 4 hours at a time every night, which is a record for me and woke up feeling rested!!
I can’t recommend Airic highly enough, if you want comfort and warmth at a great price (I bought 2, 1 for me , 1 for my other half who also loves his) this is the mat for you!
Fat Airic has been shortlisted as one of the Top 50 Camping Essentials by the Independent Newspaper.
Bought a Fat Airic after years of discomfort when camping. Wow! It’s as comfortable as my own bed & I LOVE it. It arrived wthin 24 hours, takes seconds to inflate (after self inflation time), & is just wonderful. I use a piece of shelf-liner under my sleeping bag as I’m rubbish at camping & inevitably end up pitching on a slope - the liner stops me slithering onto the ground! My husband now wants one too.
Thanks for a great product & service second to none.

Bought a slim airik the other week after years of using foam mats, and finding all self-inflating mattresses over priced, that was until I came across AlpKit! Used it for a two night camping trip last weekend and was amazed at how confortable it was! Buy one!!
Have been making do with a battered old short Thermarest that I have patched 4 times because I could not afford a new one.
When I found your site I thought I would give the Fat Airic a go as they were very resonably priced - but expected not to be satisfied. Well I was shocked they are FANTASTIC- excellent nights sleep and looks great quality. The straps and stuffsac show the attention to detail that you put into all your products.
After 20 years camping and trekking it is very refreshing to come across a company that truly puts us first. Well done and thank you.
Good quality mats at a fraction of the cost of some of the higher profile competition. But then advertising costs. Bought a slim Airic as a mat for my son’s Scout Camp. Rapid delivery and a nice handwritten note from Kenny. He liked it and said it was very comfortable. So comfortable in fact he didn’t want to get up in the morning.
I recently bought a SLIM AIRIC from you. I bought it with my most recent trip in mind. I only had my previous mat to compare it with which was a Highlander Thermamat. I have just returned from an endurance kayaking trip which involved sleeping on the river banks for 3 nights. I have to say that the Airic performed marvellously.
I used it with a bivvi bag and an army jungle sleeping bag, I was really pleased with how comfortable it was compared to my previous mat, and as we had to carry everything we needed I was also grateful for its weight. (the trip invloved carrying our loaded kayaks around 77 canal/river locks)
We existed on 6 hours sleep everynight but I always woke feeling like I had rested. I had suffered sore hips and arms with the old mat buthad none of that with the Airic.
I also bought a 30 litre Gourdon which also performed well but will be buying a 25 litre one soon as the 30 litre was a tight fit for my kayak hatch.
Hope this was of some interest to you. Im glad I found Alpkit.
My review can only mirror the previous posts, Super- Fast delivery and a superb product.
Myself and my brother-inlaw both took advantage of the special offer, delivery to an offshore Isle took an impressive 2 working days.
I have trialed many self inflating mats before and i think the Fat Airic will be my final purchase.
A wild camping expedition is planned over the weekend, so i will provide a review of my findings when i come back.
Only one negative so far...that on your website the Fat Airic is labelled a “HOG” and would suit car camping, i am no expert but i find 1612 grams not the lightest but worth every gram for the nights sleep ahead.Something has to give, weight v comfort and i am prepared to take that onboard. The Fat Airic is Lighter, longer and thicker than the thermarest basecamp equivelent and no mention of “HOGS” on their website.
I think you have a product that is a front runner and would/is rivaling the competition, for that i can only salute your efforts.
Keep up the good work.

Super-Fast Delivery, Great Product & A1 Customer Services
unbeatable delivery, my 2 Fat Airics arrived less than 24 hours after placing my order!
I used mine for the 3 nights of the Rockness Festival & I’ve never been so warm & comfortable outside of my own bed
I’m taking my camping-virgin daughter to a festival next month, so I bought one for her too, I’ll get her to report back once she’s used it
one of my 2 mats arrived with a small tear in it (carriers had been careless)& it wouldn’t stay inflated
I contacted customer services who had a replacement sent out to me the same day, & sent me a Freepost address for the return of the damaged one
full marks to Jim at for making the resolution friendly & painless
oh, and I very much like the company ethics, well done guys!
I am just back from a trip to the Indian Himalayas. We had one wee trek in Zanskar, and another in the Kullu valley. The former is stony high altitude desert, the latter was sopping wet full-on monsoon.
The fat airic was the best bit of kit I had.
No matter what the ground surface was like, I had a good night’s sleep. The fat boy just absorbed any lumps and bumps and dips.
I sleep on my side. I do a fair bit of wild camping and bothying. This has always involved extensive wriggling to get a position where neither my hip nor my knee bone are digging into the ground. But not with fat airic. I could sleep however I wanted, and I was comfy, comfy, comfy. I was also toasty warm. The extra ground insulation meant my bag stayed unzipped except for one night at 3,900m under a cloudless sky when I zipped the bag up in the middle of the night.
Fortunately for me, our kit was being carried on ponies, which meant I was not carrying fat airic on my back for day after day. That is quite another thought…
