I love paddling, what ever type it is freestyle, rivers, slalom, polo, surf and sea kayaking! Paddling takes up all of my life at the moment, when I’m not at Uni. When I finish university this May, I’m looking to travel and paddle as much as I can, I’m planning to return to Norway, and compete in the world cup in Europe in August, then to travel to Nepal in November. When I’m not paddling I love going out on my bike, in my local woods and the moors.

Having narrowly missed out on a place on the British team I aim to improve my skills and get on at the next selection in 2008!

Et cetera:
Paddle every day!

Outdoor Show 2008

The 14-16th March saw the Outdoor show take place at the Birmingham NEC. We went down for the weekend mainly to help out at the Alpkit stand and also we took our boats to help out with the come and try it sessions.

Friday was a day of learning all about everything Alpkit makes, it took a while but I think I got the hang of it eventually! We also took part in a freestyle demonstration on the lake, showing all the specatators exactly what these silly people were doing in boats, trying to explain what was hard and what was easy! Saturday and Sunday there was a freestyle ..

NSRRRRRRRR 2008

This weekend saw the National Student Rodeo 2008 at Nottingham. The biggest freestyle event in the world, with student paddlers from all over the country.

The weekend started with registration on Friday night, then it was off to the party, a warm up for saturday night! Saturday morning and we had to do our extreme slalom runs, this included new and old skool moves. I managed to do a shudder rudder for the first time ever (I didn’t paddle in the good old days!) Happy with our runs we had to wait for the freestyle heats, Bill was in the expert heats doing well on the Muncher to secure himself a place in Sundays final. I had to wait until Sunday morning for my heats, at 9am (far too ..

Biking at Dalby

1st of March saw a sunny dry afternoon with no water and a bad ear, so we went biking! Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire was a great destination loads of single track and some skills parks what more could you ask for? Bill had some great runs but I am still the master of uphills, with just one disaster after forgetting I might need some speed to get on a table top!

Unfortunately it got dark so we had to stop, but we will definitely be back. Student rodeo next weekend (8th and 9th March) can’t wait!
