Activities:
I can’t wait till I can have a gap year.. less than two years time. I want to go to: Thailand, South Africa, Madagasca, all around Europe (spending a particularly long time in Ceuse, Kalymnos and Osp/Misja Mec), USA (Hueco, Utah, Red River Gorge) ect. In 2008 I’m planning to go to Kalymnos, the Melloblocco bouldering festival, Granda at Easter, and perhaps back to Ceuse.

My favourite place in the world is Kalymnos, it’s so beautiful and just has everything a climber could ever want. It is a climbing paradise. I have also enjoyed trips to Ceuse and lots of other famous climbing areas in Europe.
My favourite trips with the British Team have been Beijing and the Font trips that they used to run, China was definately an experience to remember! Also the EYS in Kranj, Slovenia is always a good laugh and perhaps the best European comp of the year.

Et cetera:
I’ve recently got into the British Bouldering Team so I intend on getting stronger for 2008.

SkyMasters Challenge

Hundreds of eyes stared at the looming, suspended structure. How could this be a indoor climbing wall?! The unusual obstacles ahead set the adrenaline flowing. Suspended above the exhibition floor the variety of volumes, stalactites and barrels wobbled disconcertingly, beckoning the next climber to attempt to reach the Ford Ranger car at the end of the sickeningly steep climb.

Out 4th on the Saturday I had little time to watch other climbers before I was on the shaking wall, climbing to beat the clock. We had just 10 minutes to reach the Ford Ranger car and hit the buzzer and although this sounds ages to be hanging off holds at such overhanging angles, time sped quickly on.. Slightly ..

Summer in February!?

Blue skies and sunshine; it seemed too perfect. The first time out for ages and we were off to Beeston. Upon late arrival we quickly mounted the cool rock and belayed from the ledge. Feeling the unfamiliar feeling of heat on my back, I took off my jumper and began to climb my first route: Deaf Dove E2 5c. A great route with some great rock. Nice and pockety...very French! The nice warming feeling got stronger when descending and by the time I was ready to belay Scott I was down to a strap top! In February!
After a bit of lazying about in the sun we trekked through the thorns to the other side and got on another route: Majolica E3 5c. After pulling on a couple of small finger pockets and ..

37 degrees and 53 problems

“53 problems?! You have got to be kidding me! I don’t usually move at 37 degrees let alone climb!”

So, there we were in sunny Ailfroide for Tout a Blocs and contemplating how we were going to complete 53 gnarly boulder problems in a total of 6 hours! To contemplate to the best of our ability, we took to the pool for the day. But, despite our best efforts to slow time to a standstill- the day sped by rather fast and we soon found ourselves queuing for the super thick competition tops.

The first boulder we completed was pretty straightforward but perhaps put us in a false sense of security. By the end of the first hour we had completed three of the 53 problems. Blood, sweat and tears ..
