Alpkit welcomes Beth to the team

It is always difficult having to chose what to do for your work experience so we were delighted when Beth asked if she could help out behind the scenes here at Alpkit HQ. A world away from the glamourous lifestyle of being a sponsored climber on our Academy, Beth will be helping with all aspects of the company from packing the orders to seeing how the whole product development process works. It should give her a good understanding of how a small business runs and how hard the guys at Alpkit work. So here’s wishing her a fun and informative week. 

We have moved home

Space was running short and a good deal presented itself so we have spent the last week shifting boxes to our new larger premises. Our address is now Unit B1, The Ropewalk Ind. Est. just 100 metres from our old office. Despite being more than 2 times larger we have already filled it with stuff, go figure.

Youv’e cleared us out of sleeping mats

We have been bled dry of nearly all of our Airic self inflating camping mats. This summer people have just gone mad for our mats and we have sold many more than expected. A nice surprise but unfortunately because we order directly from the factories we are unable to get products back in stock quickly. The final few Wee Airics are selling out quickly but we expect everything will be back in stock for the start of the Autumn.

July service downtime

There will be a week of service disruption between Friday 21st and Friday 28th July. During this period you will be able to place online orders as normal but we will not be able to despatch them or respond to telephone enquiries. We will not have constant internet access but we will attempt to reply to emails as quickly as we can.

- Orders placed before 2pm Friday 21st July will be despatched as normal.
- Orders placed after this date will not be despatched until Friday 28th July.
- Normal service will resume from the 31st July.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause, we have a number of unavoidable chores we must deal with during this time which will involve our limited number of staffers.  We would rather be straight with you rather than offer an unreliable and unpredicatable service. By announcing it early we hope to avoid any major problems.

Tout a Blocs 2006

The annual bouldering meet in the heart of the French Ecrin will be taking place over four days from the 25 - 29 July, a little earlier than last year. We take a look at the Tout a Blocs format now in its 13th year.

Pipedreams - they are what they say they are

It would seem that our latest batch of Pipedreams are in fact just that.. a pipedream. We have been well and truly stuffed by our manufacturing ‘partner’ who has decided that our bags, which were due to ship at the end of June, require a little extra finance to ensure timely delivery. In short they are demanding we pay more for the products. That’s not how we do things at Alpkit, we refuse to be held to ransom and so we must regretfully announce that we will no longer be able to supply the Pipedreams in the foreseable future.

A big sorry to everyone who has held on hoping we could supply these bags for their summer trip.
