Indigo

Illuminate your world with our small LED headtorch. At just 100grams you can take it just about anywhere. Perfect for reading in your tent, cooking up a broth or searching for that old school photo in the attic.

Indigo is a small, lightweight headtorch ideal for light trekking, backpacking, reading in the tent, camping or any old household chore.

BrightEye LEDs

Indigo is surprisingly bright considering its small size. Two LEDs produce a strong beam whilst four LEDs produce a wider softer beam

Effective power

We sent the Chunk out in front and after 10 metres we could still see him. By 20 metres we could just make him out at which point we pulled him back for fear of losing him over a precipice. Our non scientific tests show that Indigo effectively illuminates to a distance of 10 metres.

Power source

Three AAA batteries slot into the battery compartment on the back of the torch. A rubber flap protects the batteries from light rain and mud.

Protected switch

The switch is located on the light unit and is protected from accidental use when packed away. The switch has 3 modes, 2LED, 4LED and off.

Use

We do not recommend using Indigo in more extreme situations such as long alpine ascents, caving and other committing ventures. It is ideal as a back up torch, reading, for mooching around camp or light trekking. Indigo is not sold as a waterproof torch however we find that in most normal outdoor conditions (including rain, sleet and generally awful weather) it will work just fine.

Features at a glance

LED technology

You used to find them only in your TV and VCR, but with the invention of the white L.E.D. their use has exploded into personal illumination devices. An L.E.D. is almost unbreakable and will last not far short of forever. The best original white L.E.D's originate from Japan and although all white L.E.D's tend to have a blue tint, cheaper copies tend to exhibit this characteristic a little more. Interestingly L.E.D.'s do not emit UV light so will not attract bugs and insects.

Note on batteries

It has come to our attention that not all brands of AAA batteries are alike! Duracell batteries in particular have a shorter positive contact that may result in a bad contact. If your torch fails to function please check this point. We have found Energizer to be the most reliable.

Indigo requires 4.5 volts to function optimally. 3 NiMH rechargeable batteries with a combined output of 3.6 volts is lower than the 4.5 volts supplied by 3 alkaline batteries and may not be enough to illuminate all 4 brighteye LEDs.
