This year we have made Filo meaner, keaner and leaner.

High fill power = superior insulation

Our Filo jackets are stuffed with 90/10 700+ (European scale) fill power white goose down. For more information about down see our down information page. There is less down than last year but we have used better quality down. The four panel construction should fit the body better which means less cold air circulating around your body as you move around.

Design

All Filo models use a stitch-through construction, for warmth without the weight penalty. This is a proven method of stitching together down jackets. A fleecy lining on the collar will keep your neck extra cosy warm. The shell material is constructed from Micro Ripstop, this has been tested over the last year in our Filium coLAB product and we have had no negative feedback. It is soft, compressible and quiet.

The jackets do zip together but we cannot imagine why you would want to do so. Two lined hand warmer pockets on the outside. And an interior pocket is a convenient place to store camera batteries and anything else that needs to stay warm.

New: Ladies Cut

Wider hips, nipped in at the waist and slightly roomier cut at the chest. The measurements in the size chart show the actual measurements from the garment. This way you can measure something you may already have and take a pretty good guesstimate. The jackets will come in three sizes; S, M, L. This should cover sizes from 8 up to 16. As there are only three sizes, it difficult for us to say what the UK dress size is. THIS IS OUR BEST GUESS. The best advice we can give is ignore the labels, measure a jacket you fit in and find the closest match.

Sizing notes

Don't choose a Medium jacket just because the last tshirt you purchased from River Island was a medium. Some people prefer a tight jacket, some baggy, some like to wear it over another jacket, some like to wear it next to the skin. So please do not be offended if you come out as a large when you thought you were a medium!

Ask a bloke what chest measurement they are and they will probably sling a measuring tape around their tshirt, so this is what we have assumed here. However in practice you are likely to be wearing more under your jacket.

The Alpkit Fit. Please remember that these are technical garments, they are designed to function with the rest of your clothing system. For this particular garment we are assuming you will be wearing a baselayer and a fleece. So if you are a sized 40 chest we recommend you choose a Alpkit Medium for a snug fit over a baselayer and fleece. If you know you are going to be slinging it over your shell as a belay jacket you should take a size up.

Where are the Alpkids?

We have had to put the kids on hold, as the sales are not quite what we would of hope. 95% of the sales of the Filo Kid were to ladies wanting a good down jacket without shelling out silly money. This is why we have launched the Filo with a womens cut.
