Welcome to the 2011 Alpkit Christmas comp. Each weekday from the 1st Dec to the 16th Dec there will be a new clip for you to watch (not including weekends). This will give a total of 12 clips. Simply watch the clip then answer the questions on the right of the page for a chance of winning our AK MegaSlide 2000 sleigh.
AK MEGASLIDE 2000 PRIZE DRAW
This is the sleigh Santa likes to ride on his days off. With its lightweight powder-coated steel frame, polycarbonate front skis and HDPE rear skis it carves like a snowboard while riding on a cushion of air. Directional control is aided by moulded handle grips and a proprietary steering bar. AK MegaSlide 2000 is ready to slide out of the box but this is not a toy! Helmet, gloves and body protection are not provided but are seriously recommended!! You do not need to play every day, just one correct answer will get you in the draw for our MegaSlide 2000 sleigh, however the more correct answers you get the more entries you will have and the greater your chance of being selected to win the MegaSlide Draw prize. There will be 12 questions in total so come back and hit the site each day. When the competition has finished we will select a winner at random from all of the entries.
Another reason to play each and every day is the bonus ‘Advent Surprise’ question.
ADVENT SURPRISE DAILY DRAW
Instant gratification! Each day there will be a small spot prize on offer. Just answer the 2nd question for a chance of winning one of 12 spot prizes. Every correct Advent Surprise answer from the day will go into the nightly draw and a winner chosen by random and notified the following day.
No new questions on weekends!
Friday’s question will remain live over the weekend, so if you play on Friday you don’t need to worry about having to stay in all weekend to get more entries in the draw!
NEWS & RESULTS
Episode 12
With less than 10 days to Christmas we thought it was time to get the Christmas tree up. The scene was taken from the animated Charlie Brown’s Christmas, and the keyring we were after was Sledge. Well done Chris Brain who got the answer correct. And what about the main prize.. The MegaSlide 2000!! We hope to make the prize draw later this afternoon when we get all of the weekend orders out of the door. Stay tuned!
Episode 11
Our delivery of Fuga hoodies arrived yesterday evening and included the new Fuga Boy Alpkit Armee. Well done to Al Briggs for getting the answer correct. The short sequence was taken from another Christmas favourite Home Alone. The last episode will run through the weekend with the grand prize draw sometime Monday afternoon.
Episode 10
The chips were down for James and Mr Dimitrius in this high stakes scene from Casino Royale. The props team used our stem caps for the chips, the blue one is called Play Outside. Sarah Hicks knew this, and her postie will be dropping one through her letterbox shortly.
Episode 9
Tasked with sorting out the Alpkit decoration, Ben visits the factory vending machine for some of our multi-purpose Sugru. And what was written on the factory wall.. Happy Christmas of course! Well done David Livesley, you will be receiving some Sugru to hack your own stuff.
Episode 8
There is tension in the cutting room in our little homage to the film ‘Short Circuit’. Well done to Nathan Hewitt who wins the ever useful Gamma headtorch, hopefully it will be better at guiding you around in the dark than it was on Robert!
Episode 7
Festive spirits hit Alpkit in a big way last Friday and the whole team joined in for a game of pass the parcel to our most favourite version of Jingle Bells by The Puppini Sisters. Luckily the parcel was a Crimbo Combo pack so everyone went home with a prize! Well done Alison Barr who will now be getting her own pack. The rest of you who knew it was the Puppinis are in the draw for the MegaSlide 2000.
Episode 6
There has not been much time to kick back at AKGHQ over the past couple of weeks, so when we do we really make the most of it with classic comedy re-runs and a few games of Pass the Pigs. In this hand Kenny throws 4 Razorbacks, 2 Double Razorbacks and a Sider for 61 points before pigging out. Episodes of The Good Life are good value at anytime of the year, but none more so than the hilarious 1977 Christmas special ‘Silly, But It’s Fun’. Well done Claire Slater who will be receiving a set of pigs in time for her Christmas party schedule.
Episode 5
Our two elves were caught in the most secret room in the building preparing the AK MegaSlide 2000 sleigh. Anna elf was wearing a Bad Mushrooms t-shirt, so well done everyone who correctly identified it (we did allow slight name variations as there was some confusion over a question mark in the name) but the winner today is Emma Key. Everyone who correctly guessed the film goes through to the AK MegaSlide draw, the correct answer was of course… Elf.
Episode 4
Pete and Ben were only supposed to model our range of Black Yak hats, but the photoshoot ended up re-enacting the hat swapping scene from Waiting for Godot. The 5th hat that made it on top of Pete’s head was Brussel Sprout. Peter Young.. we hope you like your hats green because there is one on its way!
Episode 3
The alp-phone has been hot to touch the past couple of weeks as people try to get their Christmas orders in early. Fortunately we have helpful staff like Izzy to make sure you get your orders processed as quickly as possible, no matter how curious they are. Here Izzy takes a call from Mr Claus.. and where does he want his order sending.. Lapland of course! And for the bonus Advent Surprise.. the climber featured during July in the Keith Sharples 2011 climbing calendar was, or indeed still is.. Gracie Martin! The shoot for this Alpkit sponsored page took place over a hot and sticky day at Robin Hoods Stride in the Peak District with fellow Nottingham Climbing Team mate Billy Ridal. Well done to Thomas Davy, a calendar will be on its way to you.
Episode 2
Episode 2 spanned over the weekend so we had lots of entries. The answer to the Advent Surprise was Pete Stuart who was one of many to correctly identify the Humbug Hamper Jay was putting together. And the book which inspired this scene? Bah Humbug.. it was Christmas Carol of course! Well done everyone who has another entry in the MegaSlide draw.
Episode 1
The winner of the Advent Surprise on Thursday was James Hall. James correctly identified the mug the guys were drinking from as the Bunyip.. just one of four mugs in the new Monster Mug collection by Andy Smith. The correct answer to the main MegaSlide draw was Twin Peaks. Everyone who got this correct has now got one entry in the draw, don’t forget to play along again today to increase your chances of winning.

Sorry this competition is now closed.
And so the Alpkit 2011 Christmas competition has finally drawn to a close. It may have felt like it would never end, but fortunately there are only 12 days of Christmas. Along the way 12 people have picked up some small prizes, some people hadn’t won anything since they were like 12, others had boyfriends or girlfriends who were more excited than they were, but as special as all these were there is only one main prize.. the exclusive AK MegaSlide 2000.
We had well over 2000 entries, with a handful of devotees who managed to get all 12 answers correct.. well done if you are one of them. Ben stepped up to make the final draw, all of the correct entries were randomised in a spreadsheet, and 4 numbers were taken from the stockings. The resulting number was matched up with a row in the spreadsheet and out popped… Matt Morton!!
Good job Matt, fingers crossed you get snow this Christmas. Finally a big thanks to everyone who played from the whole team here at Alpkit. We hope you have a very merry Christmas. All of the episodes can be viewed on our youtube channel
