After a couple of nights in the hut the snow and the temperature were still falling. Time to get out. A long walk; deep, soft snow and no skis. Then one of the group fell into a snow covered burn. Digging them out took a lot of time and energy and now we had hypothermia in prospect. After wading and swimming through the deepening snow for many hours we finally arrived at the car park. What a relief. In fact double relief was ours as we took advantage of the rather excellent self composting toilet technology. Thank you the Cairngorm National Park Authority.
