A lightweight, highly waterproof tarp (say 3mts x 2.5Mts) that has a number of setup options;
1) Strung between to objects (trees?) as a traditional tarp.
2) using an inbuilt “cup” 12” from one end and either a walking pole or lightweight collapsable mini pole setup as a bivvy tent (sides and backend pinned down, pole up and built in guy pegged out
3) any other option you care to use - due to the tabs on the ridge line and the rot-proof eyelets on all sides, this tarp can by hung as a wind break, tent, 45 degree shelter etc..
Should come with lines, pegs and mini pole (if not using walking pole)

I spend too much time under tarps! Mostly in the woods ![]()
It seems to me that to use a tarp effectively a lot depends on your guy lines. Since you never know if you are going to be stringing it up to a tree, sheltered up against a dry stone wall or pegged out in a field the length of your lines could vary drastically. A neat system for keeping your guylines tidy, easy to adjust and knot free could be an interesting project for someone to take on. Perhaps an integrated peg, guy spool!
Yeah. The old school basha has been around since before sleeping bags, in all sorts of forms. The one above is quite common, google basha and revel in the variations. Not to say it can’t be improved, a lightweight version would be great for adventure racing.

Bit late mate, i’ve had one for years. Seen lots of different refinments too. Friend has one with a bag sewn in the middle so he can use his canoe or kayak paddle.
