Mobile Phone Blockers

A portable device that allows the user to disable mobile phones in the near proximity. The device can be easily switched on and off. Increases the opportunity to enjoy the view rather than the picture below.

Only problem is that you’d have all these people complainig about the lack of signal in loud voices instead....
I think this is what the military use in war zones to prevent IEDs being detonated near them.

There would be little chance in blocking an emergency call. The device is meant for personal contemplation of the outdoors and so would block calls you could hear. If you could hear someone shouting for help you would probably leave the device switched off.

Not sure about the legal aspects of jamming a mobile signal when you don’t have the permission of the landowner to do so. I know you can get jammers for places like hospitals and cinemas, but this is installed by the owner of the property, and there’s probably some notification of visitors that jamming may be in use. I would doubt if a private individual has that right on a mountain side they don’t own!
