Gaiter-skirt for water proof trousers
When you wear gaiters and waterproof trousers in heavy rain the rain runs inside the gaiters. This mean you have to wear your gaiters under the waterproof trousers which doesn’t allow the tough fabric of the gaiters to protect yout water proof trousers. If the waterproof trousers had a simple skirt around each leg just below the knee which flapped over the top of the gaiters then this wouldn’t happen.

It’s just me - this is something I’ve thought for a while.

if its raining just put your trousers on with out the gaiters and buy some with snow skirts in them. thus solving your problem no?
