A tent that can be used for weeks in the mountains, months in the tropics, without feeling like a gear freak at the blues festival, or even just when you need a mosquito net over your hostel bed. DOWN TO EARTH is designed with versatility and function first in mind.
How many functions can each individual element serve without compromising the core function of the tent?
DOWN TO EARTH is easy to pitch on almost any ground, and just as easy to move! Just pick in up and relocate. The free standing 4 pole structure makes for a strong 4 season tent ensuring minimum rain and snow loading on walls and a tight free standing shelter with plenty of head room and 2 large vestibules with generous entry and exit doors.. The tent can be pitched with 2 poles or less and all poles are the same length so it doesn’t matter which one you break or loose.
A multi pitch tent means that the wet outer can be kept separate from the dry inner, making pitching in the rain a simple and assured process. But DOWN TO EARTH takes multi pitch further by separating the floor from the inner. This keeps the inner simple, easy to repair and versatile such as the basic option to use the floor as a seal bag for sleeping gear and the inner as a mosquito net in a hostel when a tent is not needed.
DOWN TO EARTH is a combination of 2 excellent tents made in the past by Wilderness Equipment and Quest. This blog link has a flash animation in it that explains more of the concepts.

I come from Australia and now live in New Zealand. Someday I hope to become more involved in product design. I have other designs for telemark ski boots, ultra light tents, packs and huts.
