Bouldering mats aren’t *intended* to be used for sitting on. But, in practice, they do get sat on, sometimes rather more than they get used for their intended purpose.
This project comprises an arrangement of lightweight, easily packable webbing straps designed to enable half the mat to be used as a backrest, thus turning the mat into a very small sofa.
As well as providing campsite and crag-side comfort for the incurably lazy, the Bouldering Mat Sofa Kit provides an opportunity for the impecunious or environmentally-conscious climber to recycle an unwanted or worn-out bouldering mat as a form of cheap furniture.
Lazy? Moi? ::o)

I used to break things to find out how they worked. Now that I’m a grown-up and have a bigger gaffer-tape budget, I make things to find out how they work. Sometimes, to my eternal surprise, they actually do.
Similar concept - take something you’ve already got with you, tweak it for extra comfort!
I like the idea, memories of being sat on bouldering mats at a campsite near Font with a knackered back and nothing to lean against haunt me!
The same goes for sheltering under an outcrop of rock at yet another rainy day at Almscliff. I’d buy it!
