Downside of bivi bags is no ground insulation and ventilation and moisture control.
For insulation a shaped self inflating pad velcroed to the inside bottom of the bag. The bottom of the bag could even be the ground mat, but modular would be more flexible, allowing different weight pads. With the insulating mat inside the bag ground water won’t be vapourised through the bag skin and enter the bag, and it won’t move out from under you.
For ventilation a pair of small curved poles could be added sleeved in the sides of the bag and adjusted for length hence opening ventilation. The more the poles are bent over and overlap when clamped the smalled the opening. Angling the sleeves allows the opening to be over bag top material keeping rain from dripping into bag.
If it could be suspended like a hammock or used as a bivi it would be better than a Hennessey and an Alpkit bivi.
Weight less than 2kg will beat ground pad and tent or insulated rainproof hammock every time.
