Had a Fat Airic which developed a slow puncture recently (though have used it successfully for a couple of years and quite intensively). Spent quite a while trying to fight it underwater a bit at a time in the bath to try and locate leak and just ended up soaking myself and the whole bathroom, rather than finding the leak, so contact Alpkit and they gave me a Freepost address to send it back to them to repair it (or offered discount of newer model if not repairable). They have found and mended puncture near the valve and sent it back. Pretty good customer service if you ask me! Still need to try it out mind you, but am hoping it will hold. Fingers crossed! (Oh still need a lot of puff as doesn’t self inflate that well but used to that by now!)
My brother and i used a Base 120 each while camping in the alps this summer. Couldn’t believe how small they packed down and how much comfier they were than the traditional foam mats. Another satisfied customer.
I’ve just bought an Airo (Chilli coloured, 180) as my 3/4 Thermarest has seen better days and it is not really suited for winter wildcamping. The mat performed brilliantly on our 3 days away wildcamping in the snow up in the Mamores, Scotland, last week. Comfy, I didn’t slip off it once and it didn’t need topping up at all. Great value for money, good weight & pack size and typically for Alpkit; delivered promptly. A great purchase, thanks all at Alpkit.
We bought 2 Dozers last year and they are fabulously comfortable. The days of being able to sleep on the ground and still be able to stand up straight the next day are long gone for me. Crawling round a campsite with kids to run after is not a good option. The Dozer is, honestly, more comfy than my bed and I can get it deflated and back in it’s bag without inducing a coronary. And they are easy enough to clean - the peachy fabric does mark but it’s worth a bit of cleaning and at least your sleeping bag doesn’t slip off the mat during the night. Full marks!
I bought a Dirtbag a few weeks ago. First thing that impressed me was a the friendly handwritten note telling me to sleep tight - that’s a nice touch. Second thing that impressed me was the revelation I found after 20 years of using roll matts… A few puffs of air and the matt was firm. The insulation form ground temperature is excellent and the support and comfort on uneven ground is great - I’m 16st. Fantastic!
Interesting to read Fat Airic reviews as have had similar problems. Bought two but one developed a leak on 3rd outing (very fairweather camping) so was probably used for 10 nights in total. Was well over a year since buying it so never complained but reading these (plus the apparent guarantee) makes me think that actually I should. Other one has held up far better i.e. still doesn’t leak but hasn’t been remotely self inflating for a long time - always needs a lot of puff to get it to a reasonable thickness (although very comfy after that).

Interesting to come here and look back over some of these reviews. I too had a n Airic with not too many miles miles under it. Halfway across the GR20 it did the blistering thing, rendering it useless and leaving me sleeping on the ground for a week. Very unimpressed. It has been replaced with a Mountain Equipment mat, which looks identical, we the same price, but inflates far more easily, far more firmly, and seems to be holding out well so far.
My partner also has an Airic destined for the bin, as on the same trip it started deflating overnight and is now also next to useless.
Hopefully the new mats won’t exhibit these problems.
Bought a dozer, base and little kippa. Very impressed with them all. I use the little kippa when I am bivvying and want to save weight its perfect, small and lightweight. Well impressed with these. Also they easily go back in the storage bags.
Ordered two Wideboys (Wedges) one day, arrived next day, impressed with the service received. Tried one out on the floor and it needed a bit of puff to inflate it fully but it felt quite comfy. Now waiting to try it in the field so to speak, if it feels like it did on the floor I think I’m in for a good nights sleep.
