No words can describe how chuffed I am with this bag, PipeDream 600. Me and my partner spend a lot of time traveling to Scotland, mainly autumn, & winter and so far I have been more than satisfied, used it last month in slightly warmer weather… just leave the zip undone and it is still perfect!!
By the way, love the hood! I pack a down jacket into a small stuff sack that fits neatly into the hood of the bag.... the perfect pillow that doesn’t move around ;o)
Keep up the good work!!
P.S. looking forward to the Alpine Dream 900 coming back in stock.... the girlfriend feels the cold a little and this looks like it would be the perfect present for next winter! Are they likely to be much longer and do you have any plans for warmer bags? Thanks
Bought a 600 on spec and wow! what a find… Just back from 12 days backpacking in Knoydart. Weather included all seasons - rain, hail, snow, even some sun. This sac has proved itself!
The design is great - don’t just rely on me though - my wife tried it after complaining about her ME Dewline plus thermal liner being too cold - I had trouble getting the Pipedream back! All sorted however - I’ve just got to buy a second Pipedream now…
ps the indigo lights are a great buy as well!
Used the PipeDream 400 last week on a six day hike/camp over the West Highland Way (and beyond). We had a range of temperatures, including one frozen night, and the bag performed brilliantly. It was so comfortable I even used it in the couple of backpackers hostels we stayed in on Skye and Glasgow rather than the grubby looking sheets they provided!
I used a Mountain Equipment wet/dry sac to pack the bag into which upped the weight quite a bit but made sure the bag was nice and dry everytime I came to use it.
Have you got the guys at Leeds Uni to rate the Pipedream yet?
The Quantum stuffbag is for when you want to really go lightweight. However to use this bag all the time would be a real pain, so we provide the compression bag when your not really bothered about the weight. The compression bag weights nearly 100gms more than the Quantum stuffbag. Thats over 10% of the weight of the sleeping bag.
Used my 400 over the last couple of weeks in all ranges of temperatures and was comfortable throughout. One question though - why does the bag come with a stuff sac and a compression sac? they both go to pretty much the same size when the bag is in them.
Hi Glewwelyn
We are not 100% with the hood but that doesnt mean that it it isnt a good hood, i think most designers look back at designs and think what they would improve next time and the hood is one area that might recieve a little attention. If we do update the design it wont be until Next Year
On the detailpage about the pipedream, it is stated somewhere that you are not satisfied with the current hood design. When do you plan to release a new version??
Used my 400 on Dartmoor over the weekend. It was a cold wet one but i stayed really warm. An excellent lightweight trekking bag.
i have used the pipedream 600 a few times and it fits me well despite the smaller cut (i am 5 11 and well built). incidentally the pertex stuffsack that came with my 600 is a perfect size for storing a wee airic mat, keep up the good work guys.
