Finally got out this week in my 900 extra long.
It’s not cold enough for this bag in the UK. Fantastic no frills affordable bag that does the job and then some. I don’t even mind paying a fiver extra now.
Cheers Guys
I bought the 900 in short, and have to say i’m really impressed. The short fits me perfectly i’m 5ft 4”. And the 900 has kept me lovely in warm in the lakes. I look forward to testing it in the alps.
Which if the three for winter camping in Britain and europe, alps included?
might get the pipedream for alpine and lightwieght when it comes back in.
We are going to do a bivi bag, but it will be just a simple bag with a draw cord. We have tried to make it as lwt and as compact as possible.
You need to make a bivy bag to combine your down bags and sleeping mats together.
Just returned from an Everest Base Camp trek where the 900 was given a good test by myself (and quite a few others in the party because we all got them just before going away). It was interesting to see the differences in finish depending upon when the kit was ordered. My tent mate had a later model which was all black and coarser material to mine (mine has the red in-fill panel). Mine seemed to suffer from condensation more...the out side of my bag was noticably damper than my mate’s. We recorded temps to minus 9c in the tent but everyone was warm enough...perhaps it could be renamed Himalaya-kit!
All four of our group bought a 700 for a trip around the Annapurna Circuit. All 4 extremely happy, especially us 2 girlies who really appreciate the small size, and the porters who liked the size/weight. If anything we were too warm up until Thorung Phedi, but superb kit and excellent value for money. I would also consider buying a down jacket - are there any plans for girly sizes/colours other than black?
I am soooooooooooooooo glad i found this site!!!! I bought 2 of the 900’s (Yeah, extreme!!) for my kids to sleep in this year and for the whole 6 weeks holidays they were warm in their tents!!! Not a single complaint, or moan about how cold they were............ except when my sons tent collapsed on him with 60 gallons of rain water (Pmsl) at 6am. And then i had complaints of being very very wet and freezing cold!!!!!!!!!!!! These sleeping bags are absolutely gorgeous, and well and truly worth the money and they come with their own baggey to keep them in.
But 1 suggestion i would have, is either do different colours. Or put name badge type labels inside them!!!! I had to get get 1 left zip, 1 right zip, to know who’s was who’s!!!
Stunning bags. Thanks
I bought an AD700 last month, and have used it in the Alps (on the side of Gran Paradiso) at 3000m. Temperatures were just below zero (probably about -1 or -2, cold enough to freeze water in the tent), but I was plenty warm enough. I’ve yet to try it in really cold (like -10) conditions but I’m confident it would be OK.
Just back from the Brecon Beacons having spent a night camping near the top. We were concerned about driving given the road and weather reports but at least the roads were clear of traffic. The weather was very cold with plenty of snow and wind. It took us an hour navigating in the dark and fog, Snow drifts were deep and all paths obliterated. Slept in my new AD 700 and kept very warm thanks. I can recommend it for even these extreme conditions in Britain. They are very dark inside, I didnt realise it was light in the morning until I poked my head out of the sack.
