I bought 6 pairs of Aktif socks 16 months ago and have worn them excessively since the moment that they arrived.
They are sooo comfortable, I wish that I could wear them every day, but they are too thick to fit in some of my shoes. I have started buying my shoes a little larger, to make sure that I can continue wearing my Aktif socks.
Last night, when I took off a pair, I noticed that they had started to get a little threadbare at the base of my achilles, just above the padding of the heel. Assuming that I wear Aktif socks half of the time and I wear each pair evenly, then I have worn (and washed) each pair of socks 40 times since I bought them. Not bad really.
Now comes to my complaint: Alpkit can be like a drug dealer that just ‘moves on’. They sell me things like Jeanius Jeans and Aktif Socks that I get completely addicted to, then they run out of stock for months at a time! How am I supposed to feed my habit if I can’t buy replacements for these things?
Brilliant delivery and they look really good-they compare very favorably with Falka socks, which I always swore by,- will leave further post after I have walked in them.
I bought a set this time last year and have used them on winter backpacking trips in snow and rain and also general knocking around they have kept my feet warm and comfortable (even with icey water sloshing around my boots). My feet have in the past been prone to blisters but with these socks no problem I do though on multiday trips alternate between different makes of socks in case of rub points. The only off point is that they shrink in the wash and it can be a struggle to get them on, take the build up of fluff out the insides every so often to stop rub points and you have good excellent value socks. I will be buying some more in the future but the bigger size so I can just slip them on(I am size 9 uk 43 eur).
Bought these socks a couple of days ago. Although I haven’t had a chance do any ‘proper’ walking in them I’m really happy with the fit and the padding. I get cold feet all year round and these even though they’re 2 season sock are just the ticket! Great price and great fit (i’m a size 5 and bought the 3-5’s)
My only disappointment - none left last time I was buying other stuff…
If walking makes your feet blister, train in the kit you are going to use on your event! Blisters need friction and moisture - let your feet breath by making sure your shoes have ventilation. Loving Aktif + Innov8.
I’m not an adrenaline junkie - a walk up a hill with a spaniel does me, with the odd longer-distance stuff on holidays. But I really enjoy Alpkit stuff - I reckon that if you’re a softie you need more help anyway!
I’ve had the socks a couple of weeks now, and I really like them - they’re a good fit, comfy, and feel cool. I love the price too. But I’m a bit disappointed at the colours. I mean, purple? Is this 1992? A small gripe I know, but it just reminds me of when I was a kid and the only colour that women could buy from outdoors shops was purple. I hate it. And I don’t wear ylang ylang or have cats.
Anyway, make more colours, and I’ll buy ‘em! (I woulda bought the fellas edition, but you’d sold out)
Ooh, and I’m really looking forward to the winter mid/heavyweight ones too.
Delivery and packaging was great too, as was the stealthy gourdon that I bought at the same time.
Keep up the good work.
Two experienced walkers.
Purchased male & female options on recommendation prior to walking Hadrian’s Wall June 2010. After just 10 miles, hotspots developed on both female’s feet and by the end of the second day, several, painfull blisters had developed (after total 28 miles) despite lengthy post walk treatment and foot preparation on the second day. It must be stressed that in all build up walking, old walking socks of a different make had been used without incident. On reverting back to these tried and tested socks for the rest of the walk, no further blisters developed.
Male developed single blister on heel of right foot after 20 miles having suffered no ill effects whatsoever in build up walking using different socks. Reverted to Snow&Rock; socks which whilst more expensive, were more comfortable and prevented further friction injuries.
Overall, disappointed with this product.
Used these on single days in the hills, and found them to be comfortable in walking boots. Also used them for 5 days doing the 5 peaks, and came through with happy, blister free feet. Top socks!
If any one finds that they have a problem with any of our products feel free to get in touch.
Will if you want to return the socks to us we will sort them out for you.
Cheers
Nick
