Hi Ad, we are actually looking at changing the material again. The Slim Airic material is good but a little heavier than we would like. The chairkit is on the list but is not going to happen soon.

I knew there was something else! Any news on possibly producing a chairkit (a la thermarest)for the Airics?

Got an airic, but really like the material of the slim airic my mate has just bought. Is this going to be used on the new airics?

this may sound an odd question but is the airic suitable for hot conditions? Im going to australia soon and i sleep really badly on roll mats.

Bought an Airic and an Alpine Dream 900 for forcomming Everest Base Camp Trek (Oct 06).  It’s been too warm to try the bag but I have tried the Airic on a static camp.  I’ve slept on camp beds, air beds, foam mats (and even on an old pvc ground sheet on the ground in the early days!) The Airic was fantastic...the best I’ve tried when you consider ease of set-up and pack away.  Well done on a superb piece of kit.  I’ll be in touch back end of Oct on the Alpine dream bag.

Slim Airic is an excellent piece of kit.  I have been looking around for a while now for self-inflating mats for motorcycle camping and the cheapest I could find was £35 but I was not happy with the quality.  When I found Slim Airic for £22.50 I was concerned about quality so I ordered one to have a look at.  I was so impressed I have just ordered and received a second one.  Excellent quality at an unbelievabe price!  Well done Alpkit!

Hi Helen, we do not currently have a test to measure the insulative properties of the Airics. I am not aware that the ‘R’ value given by Thermarest is an international standard and infact I could not find any information about the test they perform, if anyone has any info on this we would be interested to see it. We have used the Fat Airic all year round, including camping on snow and have not felt the cold. In extreme use you could consider sliding a closed cell foam mat between the ground and the mat.

Do you have any idea of the ‘R’ value of the fat airic?  I’ve looked at the thermarest base camp and it has a value of 5.8.  Very tempted to get your fat one on trial at home, how much am I looking at for return post if I decide to return?

We’ve just received our slim airic and a standard airic and are very pleased. We’re doing some backpacking for a couple of months and really wanted to be comfortable when in our canvas home - so thanks for the excellent service!
