Climbing Mount Kenya with an Alpkit Filium goose down jacket and a AlpineDream goose down sleeping bag.
Gourdon dry bags enjoy the open air car rally to Santiago.
Back in February Moragh was planning an extended trip travelling around the USA and was concerned that many nights spent on hard hotel beds would be uncomfortable for her. As she sleeps curled up on her side she gets sore hips and shoulders on a hard mattress. To be honest it is a use we had never thought of. The size and weight of the Wee Airics enabled her to keep within the strict baggage limits of the airlines.
Rich and Sarah spent 9 months cycling through South America. A year is not only a long time to spend in the saddle, it is also a long time to spend in a sleeping bag which is why we were happy that she chose our PipeDream sleeping bag for the trip.
Judy Armstrong has been testing some of our carbon fibre trekking poles in preparation for her marathon Trans-Alpine trek Alpine Challenge.
The Vassalopet is the longest and largest cross country ski race in the world. Not a place to be caught with the wrong kit so Ed took along a Fantom down jacket, Wee Airic sleeping mat and a MytiMug for his hot tea.
We were in the Haute Alps as one of the partners of the International Ice Climbing Festival 'ICE07'. As well as exhibiting our products in the IcExpo, it seemed like the ideal opportunity in which to test some of our alpine gear.
Ben packs lightweight on a cycle trip from the UK to Italy. His kit list included a Wee Airic camping mat and a AlpineDream 700 sleeping bag.
The International bouldering event MelloBlocco was the ideal opportunity to see how our boulder mats stacked up to the best of the rest. We spent the weekend falling on everything we could find: Cassin Dominoes, BD Drop Zones, Kong whatevers.
I was glad that we had gone out on our last training run 2 weeks before as it was bitterly bitterly cold and I was sure that the Polaris riding experience would be a whole lot better.
Alpkit Nick spent the run up to Christmas goofing around in Switzerland. The Alpkit budget wouldn't stretch to a nice warm guest house so we offered him a tent instead. Despite sleeping 4 nights at temperatures below -10 he survived with all 10 toes intact to bring back this mini video diary.
Twas a white christmas at our alpine outpost in the Italian foothills. We set up the mobile coLAB test centre and put our Filo goose down jacket through its paces. Things quickly became competitive, the local kids were good but we had a few tricks up our sleeves.
Alpkit goose down gear travels to Namche Bazaar in Nepal.
Team Alpkit get on their bikes
In this test Jim sets out to find the breaking point of our 3 section carbon fibre trekking poles. At only 195 grams each Jim thought he would be back home in time for 'Home and Away'. During the test the pole was extended to the maximum recommended limit.
The bags had already been tested at Leeds University so we had the TOG ratings. They were going into production but we wanted to know how well they would perform in the field. Basing ourselves in Val Gardena in the Italian Dolomites we spent two nights under clear skies at temperatures of minus 12 C with a days climbing in between. Unseasonally low snowfall meant that we were forced into bivying in the open instead of a cosy snowhole.
We love hearing about how people are using our kit, it makes the long days in the warehouse bearable. If you have a short product based story and a couple of photos you would like to share please send it to colab@alpkit.com.
