One thing we are discovering when developing Jeans is that its a black art. No two batches seem ever to be exactly the same and when you think you’ve got the sampling dialled the production jeans arrive ever so slightly different again. The latest Jeanius pants have sized slightly smaller than expected.

Let us know what you think of the new slim fit cut on the latest batch of Jeanius pants.

The sizing was a bit of a surprise, i think i need the next size up, will call tomorrow.
Apart from the shall we say snug sizing, the rest of the new details are great

I find the perfect fit for me is normally a 33/30 jean, am wondering what size to get - does the 34/32 come up small in the waist or is the 32/32 more likely to fit me? Thanks

I find the slim fit too slim for my chunky legs, the 32 waist fits nicely but sadly I look like an 80’s reject with spray on jeans.  The 34 is a little loose on the waist but at least the legs look ok.

I dearly loved the test set, is it possible to either relax the fit or have two lines of slim fit and relaxed fit?

Otherwise the material performs well (what little chance I’ve had to use it, only got them yesterday but I’ve already been up the local hills in them), feels nice and makes for a top garment.

just received my new pants and they fit nicely on the legs but the waist is a bit loose but i think dropping a waist size would meake them look a little too’spray on’!!

I’m gutted you decide to drop the relaxed fit idea, also the ankles are too narrow and could do with more of a ‘boot fit’

other than that they are nice jeans and i’ll watch this space for any new modifications you make to them i.e. relaxed fit!!

Got these delivered on Saturday - great servie as ever.

Only complaint is the button fly.  I went for walk in the local hills on sunday afternoon and the wind was really blowing through the buttons.  So they are not windproof with the button fly.  Also I think cold numb fingers might struggle to do the fly up on a cold day.

Otherwise excellent

I got my Jeanious a few days ago, quick delivery to Sweden, as always!

I switched from a pair of Nudie Baggy Bjorn 31’32 to the Jeanious 34’32, and the Jeanious were actually tighter in the legs. They still fit, but I will not be able to wear them over my bicycling knee-pads (661 Kyle Strait) for example.
They are also a bit long for me, I think the perfect size would be 36’30.

Still, a more baggy cut would be even better, as the 36 waist would be way too large.

As for the water-proofing it has held up to expectations, but you already know that smile

Ordered a pair of the new Jeanius because I liked my original pair so much…

Fit-wise, the new ones are ghastly. Even ordered a size up, the calves are really tight and the top knee darts sit just below my knee when I stand upright. As a result, they’d be impossible for me to climb in as the lower legs catch and prevent me from lifting my leg before I get my foot level with my other knee. My original pair were really comfy for climbing in, as the legs were loose enough to move around.

The diamond crotch doesn’t seem to work on the new ones either - despite being a snug fit round my butt, I seem to have less flex in them than in a normal pair of jeans with a straightforward seam

Looks-wise, my wife laughed when she saw them on; she claims I look like an extra from Ashes to Ashes.

Could we have the relaxed fit back please?

I didn’t realise they were slim fit, it’s never suited me with my chunky thighs. I went for a 34/32 and its a bit tight on the crotch, knees and the ends don’t open much which for outdoor use isn’t so good getting them over shoes without look out of place. I think I’m going to have to send them back, tempted to try a 36/32 but wonder if the tightness will still be in the leg.

I would like to try the boot/relaxed cut though.

I ended up with a pair of 40”/30” which is 2 sizes up from the size I had for the original pair. The waistband is a bit baggy now, but they are a comfy, rather than tight, fit in the calf. I used them for some easy cragging on Saturday with a bunch of young people and they were fine.

Just as an update on the new slimfit Jeanius, I’ve also used them for biking now and found them pretty comfy, although they did get a bit sweaty in the heat of the day - to be fair, I think any full length trousers would have been the same.

They do loosen up quite a bit in the waist - I would reckon about a good 1 - 11/2 inches, so people might want to take that into account when sizing their trousers.

Any guidance for washing these?  I had mine on last week in a Thuinderstornm during which they got absolutely soaked.  I’ve since washed them - cool wash, non bio detergent - but they seem to be wetting out now rather than beading.  Would it help to iron them?

Hi Chris,

Yes, a cool iron or a tumble dry will help a lot. Also when washing you need to make sure

a) you clean all possible contaminants out of the fabric, e.g. mud, sweat and tears. A cool wash, easy wash may not do this.
b) your washing powder doesn’t contain a fabric conditioner as this will contaminate the fabric

I am waiting for some text from Epic on detailed washing and care instructions for the fabric.

We have never touted the jeanius jeans as waterproof. We promote them as softshell jeans. This means in very heavy or continuous rain they will eventually wet out, however they will remain windproof.

I have just received an email from our factory saying the new relaxed fit has just left. It should be at Alpkit late July.

Cheers, Jim.
