Whats the easiest way to re-proof these jeans as a friend washed them for me and they aren’t as good as they used to be?

Got mine in October & they do work exceedingly well, from Sheff in the snow to a trek round the Lakes at New year & general day to day stuff inbetween . I like the fit personally, but would reduce the hem diameter slightly, apart from that they are perfect. They fitted straight outta the packet & after obligatory water demonstrations to all & sundry wherever possible (the golfers & football watching dad’s at work want them too apparently!). After reading all the other posts I don’t know what more I can really add, they get a thumbs up from me & can’t wait till you get more in stock.
As to people’s niggles with them ie. fit etc. I count myself lucky, I don’t think there is one item of clothing esp. jeans that fits everyone with the same size, that’s why people have favourite brands/styles etc. if you start to accommodate everyones individual taste you’ll become a jeans company not an outdoor company, yeah they do smell a bit weird to start with but hey-ho, I can live with that & it fades. All the plus points outweigh any of the negatives for me personally and I look forward to any more clothes that you bring out in Epic-Thankyou Alpkit
PS.I like the logo on the pocket (& don’t feel obliged to pick it off because it offends my green credentials, though I would love to have the spare time to do things like that but would do something useful instead, perhaps you could do variations such as ‘hitching’, ‘catching the bus’, or suffixes such as ‘in my Landrover’ -sorry couldn’t resist) keep up the good work AK

I don’t know if these already incorporate this feature but if not… can you make the front pockets in such a way that loose change etc. does nor easily fall out when bouldering, slouching in a comfy chair and so on? Some pockets have this feature - it’s just a bit of extra stitching at the top end of the pocket to prevent stuff rolling out.

Try giving them a iron, that should perk them up nicely.

Had mine a while, and am wearing them more and more, they are great, only gripe is the leg length, a choice would be great

I hope I don’t repeat too much feedback.

First of all thank you for making a great pair of jeans, I would wear them all the time if I was absolutely certain I could replace them when I go through the knees.

Fit - I normally wear straight cut jeans and bought these in my normal size 30”. They are baggier than I am used to for jeans but but not as baggy as some street styles. The fit is perfect for the sports I do. Knee articulation is fine and well positioned (for earlier check the position with the knees fully bent).

Snow sports - Baggy enough for Polartech 100 or 150 fleece underneath. They fit over ski boots and snowboard boots but remain tight enough to resist snow penetration. Perfect for dry days but water resistance is not good enough for wet days or if you sit to put your bindings on.

Rock climbing - Plenty of movement range in the cut but the inner finish can grip the legs restricting movement a bit.

Other points:
These don’t get dirty; if they get muddy or chalky a light brush will clean them so you can go back to work after a lunch at the crags.
They sound odd when you walk
Build quality 100%

I’ll be keeping my GoreTex for the bad days but for all the other days these are the top choice.

Hi,

I was climbing with a friend on Sunday, and wondered why he hadn’t bothered to change out of his jeans, which looked new and really smart, when we’d had plenty of time to. I belayed him half way up the first pitch before noticing the great pocket motif of mountain skylines and ‘driving to the mountains’ (read - instantly jealous, and thinking these must be Canadian judging by the well thought out gear I’ve seen friends bring back from there). The rest is history, alpkit, outdoor fabric jeans, little bit stretchy, water resistant (though not to Fife downpours on the 10min walk home!). So here I am looking for a size to fit me, not realising the ‘jeans’ are prototype :-(
I’ve signed up and can’t wait for the email saying that they’re on sale.

Great idea to involve the customers in design ideas and feedback, I’ve been thinking of design improvements everytime I buy a piece of kit made for women, or not as the case may be, looking forward to a day when gear will fit properly.

So I’m back from 3 months in S America with these jeans and they were great. The water off a ducks back trick didn’t last long but it didn’t matter as they still dried very fast and put up with a lot of abuse.

I think I’d prefer a slightly closer fit with a higher crotch as it did restrict leg movement at times.

They seem very hard wearing and do keep much cleaner than normal jeans (which is obviously a boon when travelling).

Very comfortable when worn on long bus trips (up to 24 hours) - no sweatiness to speak of.

Best of all, when you get caught in a downpour you don’t end up with damp trousers for the rest of the day.

So, not bad at all!

Really like mine. I wear them pretty much every day at home, and for country walks and cragging. Good stretch and fit.

A couple of minor minuses:
Cold feel of the material when you don them (OK, a bit of a wussy complaint)

More importantly my pair have lost that water beading finish they had when I first put them on. The surface now wets out in heavy rain, though water doesn’t seem to penetrate inside. Can they be re-treated, like a waterproof jacket?

Design tweak suggestions:

A button or two on the outside of the shin region for turning up the troos when you’re climbing. I don’t go for that trendy flappy round the ankles look when I’m climbing.

What about a key clip (like you get in daysack lid pockets)?

Is there any intention to supply a “short” version of the Jeanius, e.g. 32/30? Thanks

Had mine for about 6 months, and think they are excellent for anything from going to the pub in the rain to serious walking. Totally waterproof and fairly breathable.

Only minor issue is that the cut round the waist is a little odd, they look like a smaller waste band has been fitted on a larger pair so that below the waist band the material sticks out at the side.

BTW how does the sizing come up on these? I think in reality I’m a 33” waist, but sometime 32” fits well, other times 34”. Also do you think they would shorten okay? I’m only a 30” in the leg…

Hope these are available again soon too!
