View Merino Wool
Finer than traditional wool and with a more complex structure than synthetic fibres such as polypropylene or polyester. Unlike synthetic fibres, Merino can absorb up to 10 times its own weight with moisture without feeling wet, allowing the moisture to evaporate from the fibres without cooling your body. Merino garments are intelligent base layer systems that really help manage your bodies temperature. It is incredibly soft and won’t make you itch but best of all the days of smelly thermals are over. Even after several days constant use your Merino garment only needs a quick wash to bring it back to its best.
Merino advantages:
Warm when wet - the tiny air pockets in the naturally crimped wool fibres help to trap body heat
Heat management - wool warms up quickly and then keeps a consistent body/skin temperature across wide range of conditions and activities
Reduces post exercise chill through vapour management - the surface of wool fibres are water repellent but also porous which allows moisture vapour to be pulled away from the body before condensing
Quick dry - blended with polyester, moisture will be moved from the wool on the inside to the poly on the outside where is can quickly evaporate
Less itch - Merino wool is an extremely fine fibre, it feels very comfortable against the skin
Reduce odour - wool has natural anti-microbial properties built in which keep unwanted odour to a minimum
UV protection - wool has natural UV protection which means the product should last long days in the mountains
